Description:

Conduct agricultural research in the area of animal science, specifically ruminant nutrition and management. Responsibilities include data recording, entry, analysis; prepare data for reports/manuscripts; assist other professional staff with data analysis when available; supervise undergraduate and staff with collection of field and laboratory research data; coordinate research efforts; and communicate with other research personnel. Specific trials and research techniques will evaluate the use of dried distillers grains and particle size on feedlot lamb growth, carcass traits, nutrient digestibility, and ruminal fermentation. The M.S. student will also be utilized in sheep outreach programing, such as Shearing & Wool Classing schools, fiber analysis, and Sheep Schools. T he research will be conducted at the NDSU Hettinger Research Extension Center, Hettinger, ND. Housing while in Hettinger is provided.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • B.S. degree in Animal Science or related degree
  • Proficient computer skills in the use of word processing and Excel
  • Experience with livestock production
  • Effective communication skills to include written and verbal
  • Acceptance into the graduate program at North Dakota State University

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two years related experience
  • Proficient in SAS
  • Experience with animal science research and publication in refereed journals
