This position will require 3-4 weeks travel to Santa Barbara, CA for training.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Tooling Machinist / Engineering Technician is responsible for the planning and performing of all tasks required to program, machine, fabricate, assemble, maintain, inspect, and repair production tooling and fixtures. Must be able to write a program from scratch.


Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • CNC Machining/Programming of Lathes and Mills and Conventional Machining.
  • Read technical drawings and set up the machines in accordance with these blueprints.
  • Complete all tooling inspections and documentation.
  • Ensure all process paperwork has been completed and distributed to the correct departments.
  • Perform final inspection of all machined parts to ensure quality.
  • Plan for and order raw materials as needed.
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance and cleaning of machinery and work area.
  • Support Process Engineering team through fixture/prototype development, test development, and data analysis.
  • Gather information to support Engineering functions through direct process observations, videotaping, part examination/measurements, etc.
  • Support Continuous Improvement team activities and participate on teams as appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements (Education, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, etc.)

  • Highschool Diploma or GED required.
  • Machining Tool Technology or comparable trade school degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Proficient in programming, setting up, operating and troubleshooting CNC mills and Lathes. Prior Experience on Haas Mills and Lathes preferred.
  • 3 -5 years related experience using 3D CAD and CAM software to program CNC machine tools, design tools and fixtures, and develop standardized machining processes.
  • GibbsCAM - 3D Milling and SOLIDWORKS software experience preferred.
  • Able to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Proficient with common quality tools such as calipers, micrometers, indicators.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize his or her schedule and workload for on time delivery of tasks and projects.
  • Ability to multi-task and interact well with others.
  • Basic knowledge of Word and Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively.
