Director of Finance & Accounting - Retail

Position Overview:

The Director of Finance & Accounting - Retail will lead all accounting, financial reporting, financial operations and compliance functions for the Johnson Fitness and Wellness stores and the Johnson Health Tech Trading distribution channels. This individual must thrive in a fast-paced, rapid growth, entrepreneurial environment and be goal oriented. The individual must have the ability to establish financial policies and develop a strong internal control environment. This will be a valued member of the management team and a trusted advisor to the president. Responsibilities include partnering with operation leaders to improve business performance and provide continuous improvement within the business. Position will also be responsible for all financial reporting and support expansion and acquisitions. This is a supervisory role.

Responsibilities:

Management:

• Responsible for direct supervision of all accounting and financial functions
• Responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, rules and regulations
• Oversee and maintain the efficient and cost-effective banking infrastructure and bank activity
• Staffing and development of Accounting and Finance team members
• Conduct check ins with direct reports for performance management and coaching
• Drive team to succeed in reaching productivity and quality goals to meet/exceed customer expectations
• Effectively and efficiently manage relationships with outside auditors, tax preparers/advisors, bank representatives and other outside consultants and vendors

Budgeting, Planning and Forecasting:

• Partner with the President to develop and manage strategic business direction
• Develops the annual budget and operating plan
• Maintains quarterly P&L forecast
• Maintains rolling 12-month forecast
• Manage cash forecasting

Accounting:

• Implement, document and maintain adequate and effective internal controls
• Consolidation Accounting & Eliminations
• Review and implement new financial policies in accordance with IFRS/GAAP
• Manage Entity month end close process
• Facilitates financial improvement processes
• Manage Audit and Quarterly Review Processes

Reporting:

• Ensure reported results comply with IFRS/GAAP
• Monthly review of financial and operational reporting packages
• Maintain and create reports as needed
• Continuously improve organizations reporting and analytics

Analysis:

• Provides business analysis to identify financial and business trends designed to mitigate risk
• Provides recommendations to improve business and financial performance
• Active team member on multiple business improvement projects
• Develop procedures to improve financial practices
• Provide on-going support for business' financial analysis needs
• Facilitate business and financial improvement within organization
• Develop and maintain competitor analysis reports
• Support and develop product costs and margin models
• Manage the financial side of business expansion and acquisitions
• Other projects as assigned

Qualifications:

Education:

• 4-year degree in Accounting is required
• Additional education, such as MBA or CPA, a plus

Experience:

• Minimum 10 years in progressively responsible experience in Accounting and Finance
• 5+ years as a supervisor of accounting and financial function
• Managing Staff, Process & Developing Standards

• Confidential, understands the ethical standards of a CPA
• Conscientious about timelines of assignments and quality of work product
• Accountable for specific performance
• Possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including ability to articulate recommendations in a concise and timely manner
• Have a deep understanding of the business and ability to look beyond the accounting activities to identify key issues, key drivers and important business relationships
• Clear problem solving and investigative skills -support a lean environment, Six Sigma Certification, a plus
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and maintain control and order over same
• Fitness Equipment Industry experience, a plus
• Requires driver's license for moderate travel (approx. 25%)

Other Competencies:

• Exceptional computer skills in the operation and functioning of all programs used by the organization, i.e., SAP, BW, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Adaptive Insights, Microsoft CRM, Concur, Iridium or another POS system
• Able to analyze, organize, summarize and articulate complex legal and financial information
• Able to read and interpret agreements, then implement the relevant provisions of these agreements
• Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Understanding, yet persuasive and decisive when dealing with others in the organization
• Strong sense of initiative demonstrated by accomplishing tasks; improving current work processes; and assisting others when necessary

• Experienced in financial reporting
• Experience with acquisitions
