Summary

Barr seeks a creative, client-focused graphic designer to advance the visual expression of Barr's brand and work with project teams in the production of technical illustrations, diagrams, infographics, and other artwork supporting proposals, report documents, brochures, and digital presentations.

In this role, you will join Barr's business development and communications team and will play a leading role in the evolution of Barr's brand, identifying opportunities to make an impact visually and support brand visibility for this dynamic, employee-owned company.

You will work closely with technical experts-in particular, landscape architects, water resources engineers, ecologists, and environmental scientists-in the development of studies, design projects, and reports. Much of your work will involve the production of infographics, renderings, and other drawings.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

* Creation and coordination of Barr's visual brand elements as expressed in proposals and presentations and on the corporate website, in publications, on social media, and in advertising.
* Development of:
* Innovative, visually attractive materials to support the development of web content, project reports, proposals, and PowerPoint presentations
* Presentation materials including tables, charts, and diagrams
* Brand guidelines and templates for broad use by members of the Barr team
* Infographics that communicate concepts related to engineering and landscape architecture
* Two- and three-dimensional renderings, plans, and other graphics that support engineering and landscape architectural design projects
* Graphical themes for Barr clients, including color and font palettes
* Illustrative and/or detailed interpretive signage that highlights the features and/or functionality of engineering/landscape architecture designs

* Collaboration with project staff to develop technical graphics and supporting text that effectively communicate concepts to clients and other project stakeholders.
* Collaboration with communications and business development team members to optimize the visual impact of Barr's proposal and marketing materials.
* Presenting graphics and renderings to clients and project staff and incorporating their feedback in subsequent designs.
* Meeting with project teams to develop an understanding of project needs and inform them of work status.

Minimum Qualifications

* Degree or concentration in graphic design or comparable education
* Two years of professional experience in graphic design, with some experience related to scientific or engineering fields
* Demonstrated talent for document layout, graphic design, and presentation creation
* Demonstrated ability to illustrate complex and ambiguous concepts
* Experience developing and working with visual brand guidelines
* Strong proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Acrobat, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.), Google Sketch-Up, and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
* Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks
* Initiative, motivation, and focus on client service; willingness to help where needed and put forth extra effort when necessary
* Attention to detail
* Ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues and clients
* Flexible working style and willingness to occasionally modify personal schedule to meet project deadlines
* Experience working with printing professionals to ensure product quality
* Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship
* Acceptable driving record

Preferred Qualifications

* Additional degree or significant experience in natural sciences, engineering, or mathematics
* Five years of experience in a comparable position involving engineering, landscape architecture, and/or architecture
* Proficiency in developing three-dimensional renderings of the built and natural environment; proficiency with Autodesk Revit, Autodesk 3ds Max, or similar artistic rendering software
* Strong writing and editing skills
