Asphalt Roller Operator - (Construction) Grand Forks, NDThe asphalt roller operator will be an essential crew member to the application of asphalt on highways, airports, private roadways, parking lots and driveways. The roller operator will work with other crew members to place asphalt according to plans and specifications as well as perform tasks of other positions as instructed by foreman/superintendent. The roller operator must follow all Strata Corporation company policies and procedures and work in a safe and responsible manner. Must be flexible with last minute schedule changes, location changes, overtime work, weekend work, all work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions, work around other heavy equipment and moving machinery, dust and periodic high levels of noise and able to stay out of town. Must be able to get to each job location by own transportation. Must be able to follow Traffic Control instructions and practice safety standards per Strata Safety Policy requirements. Must adhere to PPE (personal protective equipment) and maintain individual PPE in a functional condition as supplied by company. Must comply with Strata Corporations drug and alcohol testing requirements. The asphalt roller operator will be able to operate heavy rollers to compact bituminous material to specifications, use plate tampers for compaction in areas not accessible to power roller, shovel asphalt, and operate various other pieces of equipment for asphalt placement.Responsibilities:Inspect, clean, maintain and repair equipmentSet up and tear down equipment as well as job site cleanupOperate other various equipment (i.e. roller, broom, tamper, skid steer or tractor) as well as place on drive on trailersShovel asphalt as part of daily job functionMake normal adjustments for asphalt operations to proceed properlyTraffic control knowledge and maintenanceReview equipment operations manualsParticipate in safety meetings and tool-box meetingsNavigate to and from work sitesTypical work week is sunrise to sunset and 6 days a week in various locations across NDPhysical Requirements:Must be able to consistently lift up to 50 lbs.Must be able to work in field environment with exposure, inclement weather, extreme heat, dust, & noiseMust be able to climb safely on and off equipmentMust wear required personal protective equipmentExperience/Qualification/Education:Previous asphalt roller operation work or minimum 3-5 years road construction industry experienceHigh school diploma or GEDMust have general knowledge and understanding and proven abilities for construction workMust be able to operate various equipment and perform each duty satisfactorilyCompensation:Compensation is dependent upon qualifications and experienceMust possess current valid driver license and pass pre-employment drug testing and background checkStrata Corporation is an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to their veteran status, disability, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, race, color, national origin, age, religion, or any other characteristic protected under local, state or federal statute, ordinance, or regulation.
