They are continuing their push into clean energy, alternative energy, renewable energy, & the energy storage space, and this tactical role will help enable that execution.


Candidate Summary:

The Senior Engineer | Advanced Development - Power Electronics provides technical direction in the development of residential/light commercial clean energy power generation systems & internal combustion engine-driven generator sets. The technical scope includes providing electrical design expertise for improving current products & creating new products/solutions/systems in home power generation.


They will help choose materials and components which result in high quality, high performance, and cost-effective power generation solutions and research new and apply proven technology to designs.


The position is responsible for evaluating and developing power conversion technologies that connect energy storage, alternate power generation methods including fuel cells and solar, inverter hardware, inverter software, and high-level system control.


Location:

The Greater Milwaukee, WI area.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop advanced controls technologies & algorithms, & create innovative system-level designs for current & new products

2. Create innovative system-level designs for use in current and future projects

3. Develop & document intellectual property (IP) including patent protection

4. Develop technical subject matter expertise in system-level generator communications, paralleling, voltage regulation, battery management & power electronics

5. Assist in establishing clean energy product strategy and requirements with marketing product managers. Use those requirements to write engineering functional specifications establishing design targets.

6. Approve the selection of all major purchased components (i.e. batteries, fuel cells, radiators, fans, air cleaners, etc.) and support the selection with sound engineering calculations.

7. Identify and specify steps for design validation. Validate designs through calculation and/or testing to meet performance, reliability, and durability targets. Document test results.

8. Support continual improvement initiatives to streamline internal business processes and support systems upgrades.

9. Mentor less experienced engineers in clean energy. Lead or teach best design practices.

10. Assist in sustaining product development including cost reduction initiatives, timely resolution of system technical problems & manufacturing, and quality issues.


Qualifications:

  • BSEE (Bachelor of Science - Electrical Engineering), or Electrical Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program
  • Minimum of 5 years engineering experience with development of new products (preferably clean energy or power generation)
  • Basic knowledge of one or more of the following C, C++, Assembly Language
  • Knowledge of any of the following a plus: MATLAB, PSPICE, Simulink, Orcad, Verilog, VHDL, Microsoft Project, 8d and A3 Problem Solving Approaches
  • Working knowledge of processor, memory, and communication technologies
  • A broad base of power system industry knowledge including common methods of wiring, grounding, and industry-accepted control topologies and communication techniques a plus
  • A good general understanding of clean energy applications and control topologies
  • Working knowledge of applicable regulatory standards


Compensation:
