The Asphalt Laborer is an essential member of the paving crew- No paving crew can operate efficiently and effectively without a quality laborer. This position includes delivering water to the rollers and plate compactors, preparing the pavement saw/mill, measuring and painting lines for the day, sweeping and raking the patches and curb lines, ensuring an even mat and cleaning the area at the end of the day.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1 or more years experience on an asphalt paving crew as a Laborer
Dependable
Positive attitude
Comfortable using smartphone and other technology
Good communication skills
Work well in a team environment

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

1 - 2 years experience rolling asphalt
Familiar with asphalt paving screed, raking and rolling asphalt

JOB DUTIES:

Duties associated with asphalt paving, patching or prep crews
Required ability to shovel, rake and handle other small tools
Equipment cleanup as needed
Walk alongside the paver to shovel and rake areas of asphalt that require leveling.
Move and deliver tools, equipment and materials too locations throughout the job site.
Deliver water to the rollers and plate compactors
Assist with minor equipment maintenance and cleaning of equipment
Able to work in a team environment and follow directions of manager as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or job site
Must maintain at all times a strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures.

This position requires the ability to lift up to 75 pounds may be required in order to complete some tasks. This is a year-round position that does participate in snow removal duties during the winter months. Work is done outdoors, so must dress for the conditions. Hours average around 50+ during the construction season with several opportunities for overtime.
