Aging in Community Volunteer Coordinator

Job Description

Position Type : Temporary, Part-time Position, 16-18 hours/week

Location: Morton County - Aging in Community (AIC) office (Glen Ullin)

Position Purpose :
Provide coordination and leadership of a volunteer program and resource hub for the AIC Project, which is a grant-funded initiative to assist rural communities in responding to the needs of their older residents and their family members.

  • Good organizational and computer skills
  • Ability to work autonomously, yet function as part of the AIC Project Team
  • Leadership skills necessary to develop and expand the Volunteer Program and Resource Hub
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • High School Diploma required, Associate or Bachelor's Degree preferred

  • Essential Functions
  • Develop, coordinate and facilitate volunteer transportation program
  • Promote the Aging in Community Project to area older adult groups (as potential clients) and civic organizations, churches and businesses (as potential volunteers and supporters)
  • Coordinate other volunteer program services (minor home repair, yard work, assistance with errands, friendly visits, commodities delivery, etc.)
  • Recruit new volunteers, conduct volunteer training and maintain liability information (background checks, release of liability forms, confidentiality forms, etc.)
  • Maintain client data (online scheduling calendar, client documentation software, volunteer records, mileage & hours, etc.)
  • Work with the AIC Project Team for volunteer appreciation throughout the year (birthday & holiday cards, etc.) and coordinate annual Volunteer Appreciation event/recognition
  • Network and collaborate with other service providers and community groups in meeting the needs of older community members
  • Act as a communication hub for resources available to area older adults
  • Arrange for educational opportunities, as needed
