At Wells Fargo, we are looking for talented people who will put our customers at the center of everything we do. We are seeking candidates who embrace diversity, equity and inclusion in a workplace where everyone feels valued and inspired.

Help us build a better Wells Fargo. It all begins with outstanding talent. It all begins with you.

Public Affairs builds trust, brand reputation, and positive business results for Wells Fargo. We enhance the company's societal impact and sustainability, execute strategic communications and brand management, and advocate for Wells Fargo's business priorities.

Social Impact & Sustainability leads the development of strategic initiatives and corporate commitments to drive positive, innovative social impact and sustainability, manage critical environmental and social issues, and enhance Wells Fargo's reputation as a leader in Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) performance. This team is responsible for the Wells Fargo Foundation, community relations, impact investing, and integrating sustainability, human rights, social justice, and equity considerations throughout the company.

Reporting to the Head of Sustainability and ESG Integration, the Lead, Climate-Aligned Strategic Partnerships position will be a member of Wells Fargo's Institute for Sustainable Finance. The Lead will work with our line of business partners and leading non-governmental organizations (NGO) to advance climate-aligned finance in the financial services industry and with our clients. This role will manage philanthropic investments and relationships, external collaborations, and NGO engagement to position Wells Fargo as a leading voice for climate and sustainability.

The preferred location for this position is in Charlotte, NC; Minneapolis, MN; Phoenix, AZ; St. Louis, MO; Dallas, TX; New York, NY; San Francisco, CA; or Washington, DC. Relocation will be considered for this position. Other Wells Fargo locations may be considered.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Develop Wells Fargo's strategy for climate impact through philanthropic investments and NGO engagement. Because achieving net zero GHG emissions requires a broad-based approach, this strategy will need to include both climate-aligned finance and real economy (e.g. oil & gas, utilities, agriculture, etc.) climate engagement. This climate engagement strategy will have diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) as a foundational principle.
  • Manage a portfolio of grants with an eye toward developing robust, sustained relationships that position Wells Fargo as a leading voice on climate-aligned finance and as an advocate for our clients as they undertake their transition to net zero.
  • Build collaborative capacity with both our external partners and our internal stakeholders, understanding each participants' needs and expectations, and delivering content, insights, and capability that aligns with these needs and expectations.
  • Create connectivity between our business partners and relevant third parties/partners that accelerates our net zero ambition.
  • Develop industry-leading metrics, impact measurement, and capacity to evaluate the effectiveness of Wells Fargo investments and partnerships.
  • Act as a trusted internal resource on climate-aligned and sustainable finance and as a member of the Institute for Sustainable Finance; provide strategic support within the Institute and across the enterprise to execute Wells Fargo's net zero GHG emissions strategy.
  • Provide expertise and insights on climate-related matters to internal partners leading Wells Fargo's additional key philanthropic priorities: financial health, small business growth, and housing affordability, always with an eye toward outcomes that advance Wells Fargo's DEI objectives. Conversely, also consider how our climate and sustainability-oriented grantees can further accelerate these philanthropic priorities.
