An Engineer & Design Manager who will be responsible for developing and producing steel designs and contract documents for new and retrofit structural work platforms / mezzanines. Responsible for structural engineers and design team, training plans and design standards that support engineering mezzanine projects. Work closely with Detail Manager, Sales, Operations and other functional teams to support business interests.

Required:

Bachelor' s degree from an accredited college or university in Civil, Structural or Architectural Engineering, MS degree preferred.
Excellent understanding of statics, dynamics and structural load path.
5+ years of experience in structural engineering
Experience in managing other engineers or leading a team of engineers.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret applicable building codes, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical publications, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as calculus, algebraic formulas, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios.
Excellent knowledge of the following codes:

ACI 318
ASCE 7
AISC 341/360
AISI S100
CBC
IBC

Excellent knowledge of the following structural materials:

Steel (Including Cold Formed Steel)

Licensed as a Professional Engineer (licensed in the State of IL or CA preferred) or can qualify for and pass the CA and IL PE within 18 months max.

Job Responsibilities:

Responsible for the engineering and design team' s daily activities, such as development of plans to improve delivery of projects to support growth and capacity.
Identify and allocate appropriate engineering and design resources for each project within the engineering pipeline.
Establish, monitor and report weekly on the engineering milestones achieved on each project in the pipeline.
Evaluate potential use of new technologies to drive efficiencies in design and fabrication engineering.
Participate in the recruitment and hiring of all structural engineer and design employees and subcontractors.
Refine engineering on-boarding programs and training programs for new hires and existing employees; develop team to support succession planning.
Responsible to ensure team produces safe and efficient structural engineering solutions.
Participate in field visits to observe mezzanine fabrication and erection when needed.
Train Professional Engineers and Designers on how to perform their essential duties and lead by example.
Responsible to set up goals for the department, and to assist on setting individual goals for each member of the team. Performance Reviews will be used to track progress on goals.
Understand project schedules and deliver contract documents on time.
Attendance during regular work hours and overtime as required
All other duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $118k/yr. - $133k/yr.
