Credit Manager - Corporate

This position is responsible for managing the credit team, maintaining relationships with internal and external customers and ensuring compliance with internal controls. Butler Machinery is the authorized Caterpillar dealer for North Dakota and South Dakota with 16 locations in North Dakota, South Dakota, and Montana. Butler Ag Equipment has 4 locations in Nebraska. We have a generous pension plan with 10% guaranteed and up to 5% discretionary provided by the company annually once eligibility is met with no minimum required contributions out of your pocket. You travel to Butler locations via the company private airplane for such things as training, meetings and customer events. This position is also eligible for our Bonus Incentive Plan.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and develop credit department employees and department goals.
  • Creating and monitoring procedures for processing of customer payments via, check, credit card, ACH and online portals.
  • Manage accounts receivable aging to optimize company sales/collection and minimize bad debt expense.
  • Measure departmental performance with appropriate metrics.
  • Foster continual process improvement and quality reviews to improve efficiencies and productivity.
  • Create and maintain corporate credit policies and recommend changes in the credit policy to senior management.
  • Manage third party collection practices and legal processers related to credit collections.
  • Oversee customer collections including collection escalation, working out payment plans, legal action, liens, etc.
  • Maintain good relationships with sales teams, store managers, legal resources, insurance providers, credit reporting agencies, collection agencies and other vendor relationships.
  • Ongoing evaluation and implementation of credit related systems.
  • Understand sales tax rules and regulations.
  • Oversee credit card processing
  • Ensure compliance with appropriate internal controls and corporate policies. Provide documentation as required for internal audits.
  • Prepares and provides accounts receivable workpapers for external audit.
  • Travel required
  • This position may involve knowledge of confidential information. Such information will be handled with the utmost discretion.


Supervisory Duties:
  • Organizes, communicates, and delegates responsibilities and priorities to subordinates to ensure the successful operation of the department.
  • Communicate with and coach employees on assignments, providing technical expertise as needed.
  • Selects, trains and develops employees consistent with department/division goals, providing coaching on career development.
  • Supervises Credit Department including leading annual performance reviews and providing effective feedback.
  • Provides regular and timely feedback that recognizes employee performance, motivating employees and promoting self-development.
  • Supervises Receptionist and Office Assistant


Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a business-related field and a minimum 7 years industry experience with commercial lending, credit, commercial collections, financial marketing or equivalent combination of business experience, training and/or education required.
  • A good driving record is required
  • Pre-employment drug testing and background check is conducted
