Job Description Elliott Ace Hardware is a local, family-owned business started in Elm Grove, Wisconsin in 1957. We operate four Ace Hardware stores in the Milwaukee area, including Elm Grove, West Allis, Pewaukee, and Muskego.General SummaryThe Department Manager assists the store manager in the overall store operations and the achievement of company goals and directives. Duties include but are not limited to the following. Customer Service??? Provide positive representation of the store.??? Greet customers entering and throughout the store. Thank customers when finished and when they are leaving the store.??? Proactively assist customers in solving problems, moving, loading, and unloading of products within and outside of the store.??? Ensure all calls and pages are answered promptly, courteously and effectively.Store Operations??? Assist with daily maintenance, orderliness and cleanliness of the Lawn & Garden department, stock room and outdoor merchandise areas.??? Ensure that weekly price changes, data maintenance, sign and label updates are completed timely and accurately.Inventory & Merchandising??? Assist in ordering, receiving, checking in, transferring, and stocking of merchandise.??? Responsible for maintenance of back stock levels.??? Assist in presenting a clean and orderly department, including all displays, end caps and promotional merchandise.Leadership??? Lead by example; be approachable by all associates and customers.Experience??? Experience within the retail hardware industry or general knowledge of lawn and garden is helpful.??? Strong interest to learn all aspects of lawn and garden including grilling, power equipment lines, lawn furniture, fertilizers & chemicals.Requirements ??? Must be able to work 36-40 hours per week, including 2 evenings and 1 weekend day. The ability to be flexible to changes in hours to cover vacations, illnesses, and extended hours during peak months of May, June, November and December.??? Requires standing, walking, lifting and climbing. The ability to lift 10 to 20 lbs frequently and occasionally up to 50 lbs.??? Must be willing and able, with training provided, to operate all company equipment including but not limited to fork lift trucks, pallet jacks, platform lifts, store delivery trucks, computers, phones, and headsets.
