Applications Administrator

Position Overview

As an Applications Administrator, your responsibilities will include providing application administration activities for select tools|applications. Tasks will include, but are not limited to, installations and setup of assigned applications and supplementary programs, maintenance of tools|applications, managing infrastructure upgrades and implement new infrastructure as needed. You will be responsible for performing periodic application audits, advising the team of issues and resolutions, as well as be a main point of contact for technical issues that require Application Support, Hardware Support or customized modifications.

Ideal applicants will have 2 or more years of experience in 3rd party Application support roles specifically supporting shipping software like UPS Connectship, UPS WorldShip, DHL EasyShip, BBX, USPS Endicia, FedEx Ship Manager, FedEx Ship Manager Server software and willing to learn how our own DKC internal software is used to integrate and enhance the business user capability to ship.

This is not exclusively an essential onsite role, though may require some onsite attendance .

Responsibilities

Must be able to...

• Provide operational System Support - Provide support for IT systems. This includes monitoring and improving monitoring of these systems; responding to and ensuring resolution of operational issues report by site personnel, 24x7 monitoring centers, Tier 1 support and end users.
• Provide feedback on how to improve stability and supportability
• Lead for Application installations, configurations, upgrades, patches, and ensure system are operating as expected after these actions
• Provide technical support for day to day application issues
• Collaborate with Software Engineers, other Application Administrators, Users and Agile Team Members to administer, configure and integrate application software
• Handle account provisioning and license management for administrator and service accounts
• Develop a script or program in an administrative language if necessary
• Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies used in supporting the applications
• Collaborate with application development teams and vendors to tune and troubleshoot applications and request / coordinate necessary application infrastructure needs
• Provide proof of concept for new software updates and features when requested
• Be the subject matter expert in supporting, maintaining and administering the applications and hardware

• Support project deliverables with necessary configuration, registering licenses and support
• Demonstrate troubleshooting skills on connectivity issues due to firewall, load balancer or proxy issues
• Support the Team mission of 7x24 support for our application domains
• Support efforts to provide 100% Server uptime and application availability to the business for UPS, FedEx, DHL, and USPS including shipping servers and PC applications

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Minimum/Essential Qualifications:

• Associate degree in an IT or related field
• College graduate or beginning level with 1-3 years of experience in Applications Administration or related field
• Generally, spend the workday sitting at a workstation and operating computer devices, such as, but not limited to keyboard, mouse and screen
• Generally, spend the workday performing repetitive motions that involve or affect the hands, head, and other parts of your body
• Must demonstrate the following behavioral competencies; analytical capacity, attention to detail, communication proficiency, customer/client focus, ethical conduct, initiative, manages execution, personal effectiveness/credibility, positive attitude, problem solving, professionalism, project management, thoroughness, and time management
• Current Shipping Applications utilize web services, SOA and API calls, so some knowledge and previous support would be helpful
• Little knowledge of programming in SQL for reviewing Data.
• Basic knowledge of Docker Container operations would be helpful
• Knowledge of Windows OS 2016 Server administration or higher
• Knowledge of Shipping Software Installation license registration, Application Administration and Configuration
• 2 or more years of experience in 3rd party Application support roles specifically supporting shipping software like UPS Connectship, UPS WorldShip, DHL EasyShip, BBX, USPS Endicia, FedEx Ship Manager, FedEx Ship Manager Server software and willing to learn how our own DKC internal software is used to integrate and enhance the business user capability to ship
• Experience in provisioning new servers for shipping software Installations, Application upgrades and patches, infrastructure configurations and licensing

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, math, electrical engineering or related field
• Linux and Windows System administration knowledge
• Knowledge of supporting and creating scheduled batch jobs using ActiveBatch
