Construction Estimator

Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions

Completes Quantity Survey/Take-Off: Identifies and quantifies construction elements. Ability to execute accurate quantity take-off utilizing software program and entering data into estimating system.  Understands estimating assemblies and can modify for unique situation

Contacts, Vendors and Subcontractors: Identifies and creates relationships with vendors/suppliers in order to assess capabilities for specific projects. Analyzes vendors/suppliers project scopes and proposals to determine best value for project continuity. Based on analysis, proactively works with vendors and/or suppliers to commit to best pricing.

Prepares Bids and Proposals: Completes estimate. Assembles quantities in pricing format to reflect bid form requirements. Understands when and where new projects start, and complete estimates based on information in ITB. Determines what special equipment might be job specific applies best value vendors/subs to estimate. Identifies to whom we are bidding and prepares bid form. Understands constructability techniques related to job elements, productivity and value engineering.

Completes Post Bid Activities: Follows up with client personally to ensure bid receipt and to identify potential obstacles in closing the deal. Develops client relationship for current and future jobs. Collects data on lost jobs to monitor competition and market. Tracks project until awarded.

Executes Project Transition: Sets-up transition meeting for Project Manager. Copies pricing, quotes, pertinent proposal information for Project Manager. Provides overview of job and proposal to Project Manager. Communicates General Contractor’s/Owner’s schedule and needs with PM and field supervision. Reviews potential opportunities for operational and production efficiencies
