DescriptionThe Senior Director of Engineering in partnership with the CTO will lead Wantable's IT department of engineers, product managers, business analysis, systems support, data architecture and network & security infrastructure teams in agile, iterative & fast-paced innovation. The Senior Director of IT collaborates and partners with stakeholders across the company to develop strategic initiatives by providing in-depth technical expertise and strategic guidance. The Senior Director of IT must be an outstanding communicator in both oral and written forms, conveying technically complex information and concepts in easily understood terms to business stakeholders. The Senior Director of IT will think strategically, critically, and creatively to present optimal solutions across the company's technology stack. The Senior Director of IT must possess deep technical expertise and also be a leader and developer of Wantable's IT talent. This position is responsible for driving implementation of best practices for optimizing infrastructure and operational costs and improving system performance. LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES Coach, mentor, and develop a team of IT professionals (ranging in skill from junior team members to directors and across disciplines from engineers, product managers, helpdesk specialists, data scientists) leading them to meet or exceed Wantable's expectations for rapid innovation & implementation, quality and achievement. Build a world class and visionary IT Team including leading all recruiting and onboarding efforts in IT. Cultivate a workplace culture of IT professionals that emphasizes deep business alignment, accountability for outcomes, and continuous improvement through regular touchbases and bi-annual performance reviews. Integrate the IT team and individuals across the organization. Demonstrate a management style that encourages mentorship, teamwork, participation, communication, and service orientation. Enhance and implement the company's ongoing information technology strategy. Recommend short- and long-term IT goals and objectives to business leaders. Assist the company in driving transformational change and innovation while balancing business, infrastructure, and technology needs. Provide expert and strategic advice to members of the leadership team on mailall technology matters affecting the company. Address complaints and resolve problems as they arise in a timely manner. Ensure key business strategies and processes are supported by technology systems that enable growth and flexibility. PROJECT & PROCESS RESPONSIBILITIES Report regular project summaries to the executive team, work with the product team to prioritize and plan, timeline, new directives. Rapidly gain a deep understanding of all current systems, including internal and customer facing applications, third party system integrations. Actively participate in all phases of product development from envisioning to solutioning to production implementation. Routinely review and propose changes to processes and procedures for efficiency, visibility and alignment across departments. VENDOR & BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES Effectively establish and manage the company's IT budget. Negotiate with vendors on renewals and new contracts. Provide leadership and guidance to IT department to achieve secure, reliable, and cost-effective operations of IT infrastructure. Requirements Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in computer science, information technology or related field. 10+ years of progressively senior experience including experience leading I/T and engineering teams (In-person, remote and offshore) across all functions of technology. Relevant experience with mobile applications and e-commerce platforms, including digital marketing and website capabilities and functionality. Relevant experience in building business intelligence and data analytics capabilities. Ability to thrive in a complex stakeholder ecosystem. Highly collaborative, inclusive, creative, and flexible. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience working in an Agile environment. Experience designing A/B tests and directly relating website changes to advanced KPIs. Knowledge of devops, cloud infrastructure and continuous deployment. WORK ENVIRONMENTWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office setting which will be at our Headquarters location and our Fulfillment Center + Photo Studio in Milwaukee. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but varies. This position can work remotely as needed or up to 50% of the time. ABOUT WANTABLE I/T We're a small but high functioning team; 2 data scientists, 3 backend engineers/architects/devops, 2 front end engineers, 3 product managers, 2 in infrastructure and support, as well as outsourcing and independent contractors.
