Position Summary

This position has a management role, a technical products knowledge component, and will be customer-facing. This position is a management role and has a technical product knowledge component and decision. The Field service manager responds to customer calls, providing technical service and maintenance support at customer locations. They are responsible for estimating, installing, maintaining, and repairing equipment out in the field and providing technical training when necessary. The right individual will also be responsible for the selection and on-site management of a Dorner or third-party crew.

The service manager role is critical to building and maintaining lasting relationships with existing accounts and assisting field sales in any way they are asked to participate

Essential Functions:

  • Determining replacement parts, parts kits, and parts pricing
  • Develop and manage the channel and customer maintenance/service training programs
  • Determine service activities, supervise and manage project teams, implement field service activities, warranty activities, and installation projects
  • Warranty determinations and actions, and technical support for sales, channel partners, field sales, and customers
  • Proactively conduct and communicate customer audit activities
  • Help create and review new product technical publications

Position Qualifications

Skills & Abilities

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience

Experience: Extremely high level of mechanical expertise plus a working knowledge of electrical wiring and motors.

  • In-depth product knowledge from working in engineering or manufacturing 4+ years.
  • Field Service work 4+ years
  • Ability to read machine prints and plant layout drawings.
  • Customer service skills
  • Computer skills

Work Environment

Office and Production floor, with frequent travel.
