Mechanical Engineer

Role Summary: The Magnetic Resonance Mechanical Engineering Team designs and supports the technology hardware implementation of physical subsystems into the magnetic resonant imaging products. The MR Mechanical Engineering team provides engineering and support for all mechanical aspects of the MR system, including thermals, acoustics, vibration, electronics packaging, table motion, table design, patient handling, fluid management, and structural design. The team works closely with the Electrical Engineering teams, Systems Engineering, Software, and Firmware to integrate and deliver solutions to help improve and enhance our products.

"A day in the life":

  • Specification analysis and evaluation for all proposed design or sourcing changes.
  • Updating Creo models, specifications, and drawings. Managing data in Windchill.
  • Execute the client change management process. Including MyWorkshop ECR/ECO process, routes, technical justifications, development of Validation and Verification plans, execution of V&V plans, and fulfilling change review board requirements.
  • Work cross functionally with both the Vendor's Project Execution Team and the Project Execution Team. Active member of a project Team that includes Project Transfer Leader, Supplier Quality Engineering, Supplier Capability Engineering, Product Sourcing, Manufacturing Engineering, Material Controller, and others as needed.
  • Maintain strong relationship with Mechanical Principal Engineer who has technical approval oversight. Escalate Technical risks, project timing risks, quality risks, and cost risks within the Project Team.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 2-3 years relevant work experience and knowledge of applied mechanical engineering design, analysis, and verification of electronic packaging, mechanisms, and assemblies in a medical environment.
  • Knowledge of industry and academic practices and standards related to mechanical design and fabrication in a production environment.
  • Experience with mechanical tools including hand tools, fabrication tools, and measurement equipment.
  • Working knowledge of CAD, mechanical modeling tools, and fundamental simulation analysis.
