Overview
SIGN-ON BONUS of up to $5,000 may be offered. Assist the Site Manager/Pharmacist-In-Charge with tasks in the pharmacy. Respond to and resolve insurance questions, process prescriptions, and address issues quickly and accurately. Provide and promote exceptional customer service, assist in preparing and dispensing medications and supplies, enter new and refill prescriptions in the computer system, work with physician offices to obtain refill requests, handle cash register transactions, receive patient prescriptions, unpack/verify stock-to-invoices and help maintain the pharmacy in proper order.

Required Experience
Graduate of an approved pharmacy technician program
License/Certification/Registration
Active technician registration with the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy
Active national pharmacy technician certificate
Preferred License/Certification/Registration

Complete APhA Pharmacy-Based Immunization Administration for the Pharmacy Technician program.
Complete BLS training and certification.

Responsibilities/Job Description
- Perform under the direction of the Pharmacist receive prescriptions from patients and gather appropriate information per department policy. Assist in the preparation and dispensing of medications and supplies as assigned, including counting, pouring and labeling prescriptions. Prepare drug therapy for patients in an accurate and timely fashion in accordance with all legal requirements, regulatory agencies and Fairview Policy. Complete special orders to meet customers' needs.
- Verify insurance and resolve issues in a manner that will serve the customer's needs. Address third party prescription questions, which may include prior authorizations, vacation supplies, dose changes, price check and drug utilization review.
- Process new and refill prescriptions in the computer system quickly and accurately; including entering refill authorization requests and entering and calculating complex prescriptions such as compounds and injectables.
- Assist with identifying and resolving patient specific medication related issues in the patient's best interest.
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the computer system. Utilize the reporting system as necessary. Process manual prescriptions including EZ-DME, breast pumps and Worker's Compensation, in an efficient and accurate manner.
- Respond to internal and external customer questions and concerns in a professional and customer-focused manner.
- Handle cash register transactions quickly and accurately. Assist in the maintenance of pharmacy to reflect a clean and well-stocked condition on a daily basis. Assist in inventory control functions
- Provide training to new and current staff on areas of expertise including computer/software, insurance plans and problems that may occur, customer service, and other processes.
- Deliver medications, supplies and equipment to patient care areas and other clinical areas as appropriate.
