Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with Human Capital and business users
  • Manages approvals, processing, and payment of Human Capital invoices
  • Vendor maintenance and payables reconciliation
  • Performs account reconciliation and analyses for Accounts Payable and Prepaid liabilities
  • Processes monthly prepaid and accrual accounting journal entries in accordance with US GAAP
  • Informs Human Capital business leaders and vendors of any billing issues or findings and resolves as appropriate
  • Organizes and provides requested reports and supporting documents (e.g., invoices; payment histories to internal and/or external customers/payers/ ACH requests & processing)
  • Understands and follows internal control policies and procedures relating to payment and approval of vendor expenses
  • Partners with Financial team to analyze, report and communicate impact of prepaid and accrued liabilities as well as vendor expense to financials budgets and forecasts
  • Prioritizes and organizes own work to meet deadlines and independently works with minimal instructions
  • Provides explanations and information to others on topics within area of expertise
  • Manage all aspects of aligned department billing and chargeback processes
  • Supports the financial management of SG&A expense and produces metrics, benchmarks and analytics that will be used at the highest levels of UHG to guide the appropriate investments in alignment with Enterprise product strategy
  • Analyze Workforce / FTE trends and enhance FTE reporting and insights through a closer partnership with business units during forecast cycles
  • Complete standard variance analysis and research variance drivers and explain cause-effect relationships
  • Participate and oversee month-end close
  • Assist and drive SG and A efficiency initiatives
  • Identify and participate in cost cutting initiatives
  • Assist in developing business level cost metrics to enable business leaders to make informed decisions around pricing and FTE management

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Finance or Accounting or equivalent
  • 3+ years of progressive professional experience in finance and/or accounting
  • Experience in Financial Planning and Analysis
  • Experience managing and synthesizing large amounts of data
  • Experience supporting / training and performing transactional based finance and accounting transactions
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with MS Office (Excel (charting of data and advanced formulas), PowerPoint presentations)
  • You will be asked to perform this role in an office setting, however, may be required to work from home temporarily due to space limitations
  • Employees are required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or a similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener prior to entering the work site each day, in order to keep our work sites safe. Employees must comply with any state and local masking orders. In addition, when in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are expected to wear a mask in areas where physical distancing cannot be attained

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role / domain - Financial Accounting, billing & invoicing process and/or experience in Accounting with exposure to Financial Planning/Reporting data, PeopleSoft tables
  • Knowledge of at Peoplesoft Financials, Essbase / Smartview
  • Experience of financial accounting (statutory/GAAP Accounting), prepaid and accounts payable, etc.
  • Ability to research issues, investigate the data accuracy, and perform quality checks
  • Experience with month-end close journal entries, account reconciliations, and prepaid and accrual schedules
  • Expert level of proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint
  • Experience with Tableau, Domo, or other data visualization tools
  • Experience in Workforce Planning / Forecasting
  • Experience communicating with all levels within an organization
  • Knowledge of SAP Concur and Ariba
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with others
