North Central Utility (NCU) is one of the largest semi-trailer dealers in the world helping support the transportation industry and the critical movement of goods.  A large portion of our business helps support refrigerated carriers that transport temperature-sensitive food and materials throughout North American.

Primary Functions:

  • Call on route customers on a regular and punctual basis, promoting North Central Utility and employees to all customers, building a profitable and efficient route.
  • Help expand and grow North Central Utility’s customer base; conduct a minimum of three (3) cold calls per month, work trade shows, and attend open house activities and product seminars.
  • Process sales’ paperwork including orders, warranties, and returns daily/weekly. 
  • Follow up on all quotes, special orders, backorders, warranties, appointments, and other sales processes weekly.
  • Maintain and update customer profiles and profit codes.
  • Update route list monthly.
  • Keep route shelves neat and organized as well as keeping the desk area neat and organized.
  • Help produce “Special” sheets.
  • Keep assigned route vehicle clean and maintained.
  • Assist in loading the route vehicle; pull parts and complete other tasks as needed.

Education:

  • Minimum of a High School Degree
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in business.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in the heavy-duty trailer and/or truck parts industry strongly preferred.
  • 3-5 year’s sales experience in the trailer/truck industry strongly preferred.
  • Seat belt and driving safety compliance required; forklift experience/certification is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 100 pounds occasionally; a minimum of 60 pounds intermittently and 30 pounds consistently. 
  • Frequent standing, sitting, reaching, lifting, bending, squatting and repetitive motion requiring strength, stamina, and control required.

Knowledge:

  • Completion of safety, lifting and forklift training is required, meeting Employer, D.O.T., and industry standards. 
  • Consistent use of seat belts required at all times when driving Route Sales vehicles and using forklift/skid loader equipment inside the buildings, in the yards, and outside on regular highways/roads.

Communication:

  • The ability to read, communicate and respond to internal procedures and documentation is required. 
  • Basic computer skills are preferred.
