Building Maintenance Technician

Position description

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Operate, maintain, repair and diagnose systems and portable equipment. Systems include air handling equipment, fire alarm systems, building automation systems, fluid pumping for cooling and heating, security card access, refrigeration, freezer alarm systems boilers and other building electronic systems. The Preventative Maintenance duties include belt replacement, lubrication, filter changing, and pressure washing inside of air handling equipment. Respond, investigate and solve all emergency and repair calls received. Communicate with all maintenance shops with work order systems and communication with on call maintenance staff as necessary. May be required to work with others in planning and scheduling for modifications and repairs to systems with minimal disruption to the mission of our organization while meeting fiscal constraints. Is alert to all aspects of equipment when responding to customer requests and communicates concern to appropriate personnel. On-call rotation may be required. Maximum response times for on-call determined per campus location. Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills. Possesses excellent human relations skills to interact with staff, visitors, and patients.
After receiving licensure and three years of field service experience related to the skills associated with Building Infrastructure Systems, the Building Maintenance Technician will have the qualifications required of a Senior Building Maintenance Technician and will be expected to accept promotion into a Senior Building Maintenance Technician role.

Qualifications

Associate degree or a two-year degree from a technical college related to a Building Infrastructure System maintenance program. Four years of military experience in a related field will be considered in lieu of the educational and field service experience requirements.

Preferred: Two years Health Care experience

License or certification

A Driver's License is required upon hire. A MN Pool Operators Certificate is required or achievable within 90 days of hire. A Minnesota Special Engineer Boilers License is required or achievable within 90 days of hire. An ASSE 6040 Certificate is required or achievable within 12 months of hire. A Minnesota 2nd class B Boiler License required or achievable within 2 years of hire.
