What will you be doing?

The Laboratory Technician II will support the engineering staff by assisting with product testing, preparing test data for reports, managing lab equipment needs including yearly calibrations, and performing routine lab maintenance. This position is specifically looking for a candidate that has worked with electrical equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, ground continuity tester, hi-pot tester and general power distribution.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

* Prepare test samples and set up test apparatus/equipment to perform product testing
* Obtain and record test data in accordance with established test plans and standards. Core tests include, but are not limited to: input rating, temperature, leakage current, dielectric, grounding impedance, mechanical hazard, flammability, and IP
* Communicate with engineering staff on status and results of testing
* May make recommendations regarding technical decisions relating to the interpretation and applicability of tests
* Verify test equipment is in working condition and calibrated prior to performing testing
* Maintain calibration records and coordinate periodic calibrations as needed
* Facilitate equipment repairs and prepare new equipment budget needs when required
* Prepare and/or construct test fixtures as needed
* Assist other laboratory staff as needed
* Adhere to Intertek quality standards, procedures and training requirements

The electrical team provides testing, inspection and certification for a variety of electric products, including appliances, consumer electronics, lighting, medical devices, information communications technology, HVACR, industrial, and energy transmission and distribution. What qualifications do you need?

* A high school diploma or GED and two (2) years relevant experience in terms of education, experience and training
* Previous NRTL experience a plus
* Microsoft Office software proficiency including Word, Excel and Outlook
* Ability to utilize basic lab equipment and various hand tools
* Ability to review, understand, and convey technical information in an effective manner
* Ability to make technical decisions and engineering judgments independently within established parameters
* Ability to communicate and interact effectively in both verbal and written format
* Must be self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
* Must be quality driven and customer focused
* Physical dexterity to operate equipment and perform other functions necessary to effectively and efficiently perform the duties of the job. This may include: bending/stooping, turning/twisting, reaching, balancing, and mobility to travel to other work sites. Ability to lift 50 lbs or more.
