Job Details

Provide massage therapy for Hospice patients to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship.
Collaborates and educates with the Interdisciplinary team to promote symptom relief and comfort.
Communicates regularly with the interdisciplinary team, completes necessary documentation and updates the RN Case Manager with any changes with patient and/or family.

Education and Experience Required
* Must complete and pass North Dakota and Minnesota state required background study.
* Must be certified in Massage Therapy in North Dakota and Minnesota.
* Must be CPR certified.
* Prefer minimum of two (2) years massage therapy experience, preferable experience with patient having life limited expectancy.
* Has current professional liability insurance.
* Requires excellent organizational and time management skills.
* Ability to follow well-defined instructions and comply with regulations, standards and procedures.
* Ability to maintain effective working relationships with team members, patients, facilities, etc.
* Ability to interact with others in a calm, friendly and caring manner.
* Active listening skills and empathy toward others.
* Excellent bedside manner with solid customer-oriented presentation skills.
* Proficient computer skills.
* Able to physically perform the duties required by the position.
* Required to have the ability to read, write and speak English well enough to communicate with staff, residents and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
Patient Care - Demonstrate respect, sensitivity, and concern for patients needs with a professional and pleasant manner. Interacts cooperatively and with consideration towards patients, families and hospice staff. Performs assessments to determine therapeutic and functional goals for patients. Develop and execute individualized treatment plans for assigned patients including specific therapy goals. Reevaluate and modify plans as necessary. Evaluate patient responses to massage therapy.

Communication - Collaborate with the Hospice Interdisciplinary Teams to assess and implement a plan of care for patients and families utilizing massage therapy. Confer with physicians, case managers, social workers, chaplains and facility staff as well as patient's family members to clarify patient needs and to discuss issues related to patient care. Communicate with the Hospice Interdisciplinary Team of the effectiveness of massage therapy and any other necessary changes.

Therapeutic Techniques and Facilitation - Incorporate techniques using the knowledge and skill of massage therapy.
Other Duties as Assigned - Provides staff education on Massage Therapy and its benefits. The duties and responsibilities listed above are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive. Maintains state required continuing education and licensing certification.
