Role: R&D Technician
Location: Maple Grove, MN

Length: Long-term renewable contract
Compensation: $53,000 - $65,000 range depending on experience, qualifications, certifications, etc.

R&D Technician:
Evaluate mechanical, rheological, and thermal properties of polymers in medical devices using dynamic mechanical analyzers, industry standard rheometers, and other polymer test equipment. Supports R&D projects as well as manufacturing test support. Responsible for executing and documenting testing per customer requests as well as performing monthly maintenance activities on a variety of test equipment.

Responsibilities of R&D Technician:
  • Perform testing, gather data, verify and report results of product and raw materials testing, including comparing results to acceptance criteria Testing will include:
    • Micro tensile on RSA-G2
    • Rheometry on ARES rheometers
    • DSC and TGA Perform statistical analysis and communicate results to teams.
  • Assist with product failure analysis Documenting work through laboratory notebooks and laboratory information management systems
Requirements of R&D Technician:
  • 5+ years of polymers-related technical, testing, or manufacturing
  • 5+ support or equivalent education/work experience
  • Experience with Thermal Analysis DMAs, RSAs, ARES, DSCs, or TGAs Demonstrated ability to setup / conduct laboratory testing and collect data to medical device standards.
  • Operate and maintain complex test equipment Ability to work in a team environment interacting with engineers and technicians Strong problem-solving skills
Preferred Requirements of R&D Technician:
  • Associates Degree in the Sciences, Chemistry or Polymer Science preferred; BS degree preferred
  • 5 years relevant industrial R&D experience
  • Experience with polymer characterization, applications, formulations, and compounding
  • Basic computer skills
  • Laboratory maintenance skills
