SSI Sintered Specialties is seeking a well-rounded HR Generalist to be the key liaison between our people and our managers. The ideal candidate must have 3-5 years of HR Generalist experience managing the day to day of HR, employee relations and benefit experience.

Under the general supervision of the VP of HR, this position will assume a supporting role in the human resources department including employee relations, benefits, compliance, with some recruiting and training. This role will act as a partner for employees and management to answer questions or concerns regarding company policies, practices, and regulations.

This position's main function is to perform all benefits administration and entry to include processing invoices for payment, updating benefit system with benefit changes, open enrollment, and communication of benefits information to employees across all locations; audit benefit vendors websites and coordinate all wellness activities. This role will must possess a thorough knowledge of the HR procedures and have the ability to multitask all HR functions. This role is expected to work collaboratively with, and earn the respect of, all leaders and will work in tandem to continuously improve processes to help the company improve customer service and grow profitability.

Job Duties (include but are not limited to):

  • Managing benefit plans in accordance with ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, and other federal and state regulations.
  • Overseeing benefits programs to include health insurance, dental insurance, deferred compensation, long-term disability, voluntary benefits, life insurance, pre-paid legal services and wellness programs.
  • Analyzing employee benefit costs and making recommendations for cost savings and plan design changes.
  • Administer benefit plan renewal and employee open enrollment; manage insurance premium process for medical, dental, vision, and life insurances on a monthly basis.
  • Coordinate with insurance brokers on any related company matters involving insurances and team member issues.
  • Assist in annual audit processes for Workers Compensation and 401k plans.
  • Support and maintain a healthy team culture for SSI.
  • Conduct exit interviews and support reduction in force documentation and delivery.
  • Maintain personnel records, job descriptions, and performance corrective action documentation Continuously improve processes and procedures of Human Resources
  • Participate in administrative staff meetings as required
  • Temporarily sit at the front lobby desk to allow access to locked facility
  • Participate in executing performance management initiatives including goal setting, benchmarking, performance reviews, succession planning, and individual development plans.
  • Advise and support managers in performance related issues and performance improvement plans including termination process.
  • Provide guidance, recommendations and coaching on diverse and complex team relation issues.
  • Conduct benefits information program sessions, interviewing prospective retirees, providing estimates and coordinating all necessary correspondence with benefit providers and agencies.
  • Collaboratively lead employee engagement initiatives and employee recognition programs.
  • Maintain Affirmative Action Program, maintain records, reports, and logs to conform to EEO regulations; file EEO-1 and VETS reports annually.

Professional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in HR Management or related field, professional HR certification preferred and/or 5+ years' experience in Human Resources.
  • 3+ years' experience with Benefit Plan Administration
  • Experience in manufacturing/distribution environment preferred
  • Proficiency with MS Office and knowledge and experience with HRIS systems (ADP Workforce Now preferred)
  • Good working knowledge of principles and practices of personnel administration and Human Resources competencies.
  • Considerable knowledge of benefits administration requirements to include federal and state regulations related to ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize critical thinking and reasoning to resolve complex problems; to manage time and multitask while performing competing priorities; to establish and maintain excellent working relationships with employees, managers, and outside vendors; to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; and to make ethical and sound decisions in performing position related tasks.
  • Excellent computer skills and Intermediate Microsoft Office Excel skills are required.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
