The Science Department at Valley City State University seeks to fill a full time, tenure track faculty position for Spring Semester 2022.

The primary responsibility of this position is to teach a variety of chemistry courses. Other than chemistry majors, these courses will include students from Health Science, Biology, Biology Education, and Fisheries & Wildlife Science programs. This person will be an integral part of the Chemistry and Chemistry Education program.

Main duties include:

* Teaching courses in Intro to Chemistry, General Chemistry, Quantitative Analysis, Physical Chemistry, and other courses depending on the interest of the candidate and needs of the department.
* Staying current with course content, evaluating teaching methods and working to improve student learning and engagement.
* Recruiting and Advising Chemistry/Chemistry Education students.

Minimum Qualifications:
* Ph.D or ABD in Chemistry or appropriate field

Preferred Qualifications:
* Strong desire to teach, knowledge of teaching methods, and excellent communication skills
* Experience teaching, especially at the university level
* Demonstrated proficiency with the use of technology in the classroom
* Interest in creating undergraduate research and/or developing an online general education course is desired.

Additionally, the selected candidate is expected to work with others in a collegial and collaborative manner.

Compensation:
The salary for this position is commensurate with qualifications, and typically ranges from $42,000 (Instructor) to $46,000 (Assistant Professor) annually. The location of the community lends itself to cultural and recreational activities, and the newly constructed Gaukler Wellness Center offers a variety of services to members.
