PURPOSE/POSITION SUMMARY: Contribute to the long term success and growth of Happy Dancing Turtle through inspiring and empowering promotion, marketing, and communications avenues. Build and maintain audiences and media channels for multiple specific geographic locations within a broader impact context.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Essential and other important duties & responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Job Specific:
* Design, develop and implement communications to build awareness of the organization's mission, programs, and achievements.
* Create and coordinate content that educates, inspires, and empowers audience(s) to include: blogs, social media, newsletters/email campaigns, organizational material, and event/activity/program marketing.
* Active and regular updating of the website including the sales and donor portions.
* Aide in the identification and target messaging to audiences for specific programs/offerings.
* Manage activities related to advertising and promotion - including copy and ad creation, placement, budgeting, etc.
* Guide development and execution of marketing strategies (overall and event/program specific).
* Accurate and inspiring representation of organization on media platforms and at events (as needed).
* Work with staff, management, and IT to ensure the organization's digital presence is representative and secure.
* Assist (and drive as needed) the creation of tangible promotion materials (swag items: water bottles, stickers, etc.
* Ability to extrapolate/infer/coalesce from meetings and exchanges different media and promotional needs including timeline for material creation, updates, etc.
* Aide in creation of a consistent 'brand'.
* Graphic design experience and proficiency.
* Continue and grow audiences/followers on multiple media channels: Facebook (2 pages), Blog, and Instagram.
* Help HDT do vital work of telling its ‘story' - to followers, grantors, donors, and beyond.
* Comfort level with analytical data and its usefulness in decision making.
* Creation of visual media (taking and using photos and videos of HDT activities).
* Primary responsibility for monthly newsletter - multiple geographies.
* Continue fostering a collaborative environment in media support.
* Respond to media requests or designate an appropriate spokesperson.
* Presence at HDT events, activities, programs, etc. to take photos, share on media, and help as needed.

Organizational:
* Work with teammates in a positive, collaborative manner.
* Comply with Company policies.
* Support the Organization's mission, vision & values.
* Share information about HDT/HUG/RPM through professional interactions and appropriate use of all types of media.
* Research and pursue alternative funding such as grants, contracts, etc.
* Pursue continuing education/professional development.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
* Education/Licenses/Certifications & Experience Required
* Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing or media related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior related experience a plus.

Job Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
* Leadership - a demonstrated ability to lead people and get results.
* Ability to develop and or show customer orientation on all media projects
* Ability to organize & manage multiple priorities.
* Exceptional communication skills (i.e. writing, listening, talking, and public speaking).
* Knowledge of media platforms, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods; video and audio editing experience.
* Ability to self start and work independently and possess exceptional people skills; able to work well in a collaborative environment
* Proficiency with relevant media, web platforms, content creation tools.
* Proactively work with coworkers.
* Attention to detail.
* Project Management Skills - taking a bigger project, breaking into smaller pieces, keeping on schedule and on budget.
* Knowledge of sustainability and a passion to grow in this understanding & its related principles.
* Build trust by clarifying and following through with expectations.
* Ability to research & identify alternative funding sources.
* Successfully pass a comprehensive background check.

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:
Physical Demands:
* Ability to lift up to 25 lbs on a very occasional basis.
* Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
* Ability to work at a computer/keyboard for extended periods of time.
* Ability to focus.

Equipment Operated and/or Tools Used:
* Standard office equipment. Video, photo, recording and production equipment.

Work Environment:
* Usual work environment is a standard office environment. Occasional outdoor environment.
