Position description

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Operate, maintain, repair and diagnose complex, critical mechanical systems and portable equipment. Systems include air handling equipment, fire alarm systems, building automation systems, fluid pumping for cooling and heating, security card access, refrigeration, freezer alarm systems, boilers and other building electronic systems. The Preventative Maintenance duties include belt replacement, lubrication, filter changing, and pressure washing inside of air handling equipment. Respond, investigate and solve all emergency and repair calls received. Communicate with all maintenance shops with work order systems and communication with on call maintenance staff as necessary. May be required to work with others in planning and scheduling for modifications and repairs to systems with minimal disruption to the mission of our organization while meeting fiscal constraints. Is alert to all aspects of equipment when responding to customer requests and communicates concern to appropriate personnel. Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills. Possesses excellent human relations skills to interact with staff, visitors, and patients. The Senior Building Systems Technician gives guidance to maintenance staff on facility issues. On-call rotation may be required. Maximum response times for on-call determined per campus location. Serves as a resource and mentor to others.
Senior Building Systems Technicians who obtain a Minnesota Boiler License, Chief A or B, and five years of trade specific experience working with plumbing and mechanical systems related to Building Infrastructure will have the qualifications required of a Chief Boiler Mechanical Specialist and will be expected to accept promotion into a Chief Boiler Mechanical Specialist role.

Qualifications

Associate's degree or a two year degree from a technical college related to a Building Infrastructure System maintenance program. Three years of field service experience related to the skills associated with Building Infrastructure Systems. Four years of military experience in a related field will be considered in lieu of the educational and field service experience requirements.

Additional qualifications

Preferred: Experience working with Computers and various building control systems. Experience related to the skills associated with building infrastructure systems.

License or certification

A Driver's License is required upon hire
A Minnesota 2nd class B Boiler License required upon hire
A MN Pool Operators Certificate is required or achievable within 90 days of hire
An ASSE 6040 Certificate is required or achievable within 12 months of hire
A Minnesota 1st class B Boiler License is required or achievable within 2 years of hire

Minimum rate is $25.61 based upon union contract.

The shift will be determined during the interview but may be M-F 3pm - 11:30 pm or M-F 7am -3:30 pm

Weekend schedule

Every 4th weekend 6am - 2:30pm. rotating holidays
