Job Description SummaryAs a Senior Counsel, you will be responsible for legal services in support of the Workplace Solutions Division. This person may participate in committees and will advise on business decisions.Job Description Responsibilities Be a subject matter expert on recordkeeping operations for defined contribution plans such as 401(k) plans, 403(b) plans and 457 plans, including beneficiary claims, QDROs, liens, garnishments and levies, bankruptcy, and banking and card industry rules (e.g. NACHA) Be familiar with the provisions of ERISA, the Internal Revenue Code, E-SIGN, UETA and other federal and state laws, regulations and regulatory guidance that may govern retirement plan recordkeeping operations Participate in the development of operational processes, procedures and forms Assist in the resolution of client disputes, provide legal support for customer complaints and advise on payment issues and corrections Prepare responses to subpoenas or other legal requests and respond to inquiries from the DOL and IRS. Qualifications JD from an ABA accredited law schoolFive years of relevant legal experienceLicensed or eligible to practice in the applicable stateAbility to effectively communicate, both written and oral, with the intended audienceAbility to exercise sound judgment in a fast paced environmentAbility to exercise agility and adaptability in providing legal adviceComfortable in a rapidly changing corporate environmentProficient using MS Office Preferred Qualifications 7-10 years of experience as counsel In-house experience supporting defined contribution plan recordkeeping operations strongly preferred Frequent demand to establish priorities and meet tight deadlines. Ability to provide quality legal services based on experience in a timely manner. It is estimated based on what a successful Colorado applicant might be paid. It assumes that the successful candidate will be in Colorado or perform the position from Colorado. Similar positions located outside of Colorado will not necessarily receive the same compensation. **Compensation:The salary for this position generally ranges between $130,000 and $180,000. This range is an estimate, based on potential employee qualifications, operational needs and other considerations permitted by law. The range may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Rule 4.1.2.Bonus Eligibility: This position is also typically eligible for an annual bonus based on the Company Bonus Plan/Individual Performance and is at Company Discretion at a rate of 20%.
