Position Overview:

Digi-Key enables the world's ideas. Every day, engineers around the globe start their research and projects with Digi-Key. We are seeking a Creative Director with a passion for strategic brand thinking, implementing design systems, and building creative teams.

The Digi-Key team is focused on having the best online search and collaboration tools for over 10 million engineers, makers, students, buyers, and manufacturers who rely on us for product and information. As a privately-held company, we have the patience to do things the right way and to invest over a long planning horizon - all with the goal of having the best shopping experience for our customers.

We are looking for a leader to refresh and manage the Digi-Key Brand. This will include selecting and managing an agency partner to develop visual guidance and best practices for executing high-quality creative for the brand. You will also lead and oversee design concepts across advertising, trade shows, content, UX prototypes, email, video, social, and more. You need to be a great creator, collaborator, communicator, and coach for small and large teams.

This is not exclusively an essential onsite role, though may require some onsite attendance .

Responsibilities: Must be able to...
  • Lead, manage and facilitate development of brand guidelines including brand identity, brand voice, personas, user journeys, etc. and implement across the entire organization.
  • Deliver a best in class digital experience by driving the ideation and design of experiences that deliver rich, seamless connections within digital marketing channels (web, social, advertising, events).
  • Sh ape and grow an internal team of designers. Develop the team to be even more successful through, coaching, skills growth, and ongoing learning.
  • Manage existing and future agency relationships and create a process and framework for determining which projects should be assigned to internal or external partners.
  • Lead and facilitate design brainstorming and work sessions.
  • Build trust, respect, and credibility with stakeholders, peers, direct reports, and executives
  • Demonstrate a deep knowledge of best practices and industry trends.
  • Partner with our internal research team to use customer insights to develop impactful creative that delivers measurable results
  • Present creative work to internal stakeholders in a manner that persuades and enhances understanding at all levels; while articulating conceptual and directional choices.
  • Create a process to ensure quality standards - reviewing team work for grammar, syntax and brand identity. Ensure creative is reviewed before it is presented and prior to deployment to ensure accuracy, consistency and completeness.
  • Demonstrate fiscal accountability and manage within an agreed-upon budget.
  • Model a strong sense of accountability and ownership; ability to lead your business and clearly communicate the results back to the organization.



    Required Knowledge, Skills,and Experience
    • Ten (10+) or more years of Corporate Marketing or Design Agency experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
    • Experience managing design agencies and integrating their work into an internal design team.
    • Expertise in graphic design including digital, video, print and other multi-media formats.
    • Experience creating a variety of interaction design documents including user scenarios, task flows, conceptual models, competitor analysis, heuristic analysis, and annotated wireframes.
    • Experience creating and managing UI pattern libraries and interaction guidelines across a large organization.
    • Exposure to, and understanding of, design, project management, and development processes and methodologies including agile development methods for smaller and larger teams.
    • Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
    • Team orientated with the ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines.
    • Ability to attract, develop and retain top creative talent.
    • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or other design-related field, or equivalent experience


    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Master's Degree in Graphic Design or other design-related field
    • Experience within the Electronic Component Industry or other Retail, B2B, B2C environments.
