Principal Infrastructure Engineer

Position Purpose

The infrastructure Principle Engineer will work across the different infrastructure and application teams to architect, design and standardize infrastructure capability offerings. The candidate will oversee the implementation of solutions to successfully integrate new technologies with legacy applications. The candidate must have proven experience with designing and securing both datacenter and cloud infrastructure capabilities. This is a unique opportunity for you to take your knowledge in this space and build something out, almost from scratch.

Primary Responsibilities

• Determining technical requirements for delivering and maintaining Sleep Numbers datacenter and cloud infrastructure
• Oversee technical projects
• Manage core infrastructure
• Create and design (and redesign) technological datacenter and cloud infrastructure
• Platform management for Sleep Numbers datacenter and cloud infrastructure systems.
• Partner with the different platform teams on integrating with their products.
• Support ongoing security compliances initives.
• Thought leader across multiple teams and technologies to drive change into teams to move towards and infrastructure as code approach.

Position Requirements

• 10+ years of server OS automation experience
• 10+ years of infrastructure automation experience
• 6+ years cloud experience
• 4 years college degree or equivalent work experience
• 4 years college degree or equivalent work experience
• Minimum 10 years total work experience
• Has knowledge of state-of-the art cloud development practices in both private and public clouds and experience leveraging modern development practices with Python, Ruby or equivalent languages
• Experience with configuration management tools such as Chef, puppet or Ansible
• Experience with Linux and familiar with building private and hybrid cloud infrastructure
• Experienced in Infrastructure as Code practices and in applying test driven development practices to infrastructure
• Experience across technical boundaries (network, compute, storage, virtualization, desktop, etc.)
• Good diagnostic, analytical, troubleshooting, design and communication skills
• Experience with Agile methodologies
• Experience with Cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, etc.
• Experience with open source technologies such as Telegraf, InfluxDB, Grafana, Mongo, Postgres, etc.
• Experience with CICD tools such as Jenkins or Drone
• Experience with containerization technologies
