Technical Writer II

JOB SUMMARY

Transform technical content into relevant, meaningful information for a variety of industries. Mentor and train new technical writers by working closely with them. Develop and maintain writing styles and standards for technical writing. Work closely with the Director of Marketing, Lead Technical Writer, project managers, engineers and marketing specialists to create technical documentation.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Write and develop customer support documentation in accordance with established company templates, standards for content, styles and speed to market - This includes technical product support materials such as operator manuals, service manuals, technical bulletins, addendums, instruction sheets, installation guides, online help systems and other related materials
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product Management and Sales Departments to define required information and produce market appropriate content
• Edit and proof technical documents for grammar, standards, style and technical accuracy
• Seek out training or research to understand technical concepts, topics, industry practices and product information as necessary
• Create and update technical drawings and figures
• Maintain current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in English, Technical Writing, Journalism, Communication or a related field
• Three (3) or more years of technical writing experience

Skills

• Proficient with content publishing tools; preferred experience in Adobe?? Creative Cloud (Photoshop??, Illustrator?? and InDesign??) and Adobe FrameMaker??
• Strong attention to detail
• Passion to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
• Ability to manage multiple projects and adhere to schedules and priorities
• A proactive and open-minded attitude to resolving problems and delivering results
• 3D CAD design software experience is a plus (SOLIDWORKS and Composer)
• Exceptional grammar skills
• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills
