Position Description & Details:

The COVID-19 Vaccine Research Project Manager will oversee a project funded by the North Dakota Department of Health (NDDoH) to study immunization disparities in North Dakota and make recommendations for how to improve immunization rates. Disparities include, but are not limited to, race and ethnicity, rural vs. urban, and east vs. west coverage rates for all vaccines and age groups. This project manager will also study immunization policies and practices in childcare and school settings in North Dakota and make recommendations for how to improve policies and practices and ultimately increase immunization rates. To better understand immunization disparities, the project manager will be responsible for conducting focus groups and interviews throughout the state with key immunization stakeholders, including but not limited to the public and healthcare providers.

The project manager will oversee all aspects of the project, including data analysis, conducting focus groups and interviews with key immunization stakeholders throughout the state, reviewing other states' immunization policies and practices, including the positive and negative impacts on immunization rates, and analyzing North Dakota's school and childhood immunization data. The project manager will also oversee one graduate assistant working on the project, as well as manage the project budget and timeline.

Some travel (occasionally overnight) is required.

This is a full-time, grant funded position through June 30, 2022 with potential to extend based on funding.

Advertised Salary: Commensurate with experience

Minimum Qualifications:

- Master's degree in public health from a CEPH-accredited institution or a master's degree in a related field or a bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3 years of public health experience
- Knowledge of the principles and methods of public health practice
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software, document preparation
- Ability to manage multiple, complex tasks with competing internal/external deadlines, ability to organize project tasks to assure that deliverables are completed within designated time frames; ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Demonstrated interest and/or strong understanding of public health issues
- Demonstrated professional aptitude and competency
- Must be able to work flexible and extended hours (some travel throughout the state required, occasionally overnight)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and collaboration skills
- Excellent organizational, planning, writing, statistical, and project management skills
- Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications:

- Master's degree in public health with an emphasis in infectious disease management or related field
- Previous experience in project management, e.g. in research, public health, or related field
- Skills that demonstrate expertise in vaccination and the understanding necessary to effectively communicate this knowledge
- Experience in qualitative research methods (focus groups, interviews, surveys, etc.)
- Knowledge of state and national immunization policies and practices
- Knowledge of one statistical software

Physical Demands: Lift up to 50 pounds occasionally

Special Conditions: Must hold a valid credit card to cover travel expense, associated expenses will be reimbursed i.e. hotel, meals
