POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position exists to provide learning services to college students, as defined by Minnesota State and the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act. This position provides individual and group instruction to students needing supplemental academic assistance in the primary area of nursing. This position also provides general office support, including responding to service requests, proctoring exams for students receiving disability accommodations or upon instructor request, and
representing the office within relevant campus and/or community groups.

1. Provide supplementary academic instruction to students with academic deficiencies
a. Evaluate individual learner progress towards course outcomes to adapt instructional methods.
b. Tutor students in course content and test preparation relevant to primary areas of academic assistance.
c. Coach students in developing independent learning strategies.
d. Demonstrate appropriate study techniques, academic expectations and self-advocacy skills.
e. Develop the independent problem-solving process within each student.
f. Work collaboratively with faculty to determine mutual strategies for developing successful learners.
g. Maintain accurate records of student contact time.
h. Complete other duties as assigned.
2. Provide students with appropriate academic support to achieve vocational goals
a. Provide timely referrals to internal support service contacts, as appropriate.
b. Assist the Director of Academic Success Center and faculty to deliver disability
accommodations as outlined in the student's Accommodation's Letter.
c. Administer exams for students with a registered disability.
d. Complete other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (expected to have to enter job)
* Associate or higher degree with coursework in Nursing AND 1 academic year of teaching/tutoring experience and/or study skills in relevant areas at the high school level or
above; OR
* An equivalent combination of education and work experience

Preferred Qualifications (desired but not expected to have to enter job)
* Bachelor of Science in Nursing or other bachelor's degree directly related to the primary areas of instruction
* Knowledge of Practical Nursing courses (Nursing Concepts I & II, Invasive Nursing Therapies, Maternal/Newborn, Nursing Foundations), and Associates Degree Nursing courses (Nursing Interventions I & II, Health Assessment and Professional Skills, and Psychosocial Integrity).
* Computer skills to create letters, modify spreadsheets, organize calendaring, and navigate online materials
* Experience with Desire2Learn (D2L) or similar online course platform
