Solar Electrical Engineer

System One is currently seeking a Solar Electrical Engineer on a 12-month contract position located in Minneapolis, MN.

This position will be with our client, a utility holding company serving more than 3.3 million electric customers and 1.8 million natural gas customers.

Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Position supports wind and solar projects
  • Provides critical electrical project engineering support for in-progress and developing wind, solar, and energy storage projects
  • Supported projects include: Dakota Range, Nobles and Grand Meadows Repowering, Sherco Solar, and Western Mustang Solar
  • Responsible for the design, modeling, development and testing of a machine, structure or system
  • Develops functional requirements
  • Understands and applies standard engineering principles
  • Creates simulations and prototypes to evaluate preliminary designs and test how a machine, structure or system operates
  • Designs and tests components, and integrates components to produce final product
  • Monitors quality of products and controls the efficiency of processes
  • Evaluates a design's overall effectiveness, cost, reliability, and safety
  • Investigates root causes of failures to maintain quality and recommend improvements

Engineer Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited school is a minimum requirement
  • PE certification (preferred)
  • Position is located out of the central office
  • Experience with wind, solar, energy storage projects (preferred)
  • Travel to operating plants and construction sites will be required
  • Travel expenses for site visits are reimbursed
  • Per Diem will not be paid
  • Accountable and self-motivated
  • Works well in team environment

Duration: 12-months

Location: Minneapolis, MN

Pay Rate: $50.40 - $64.44/hr.
