Job DetailsJob LocationPierre MSC - Pierre, SDRemote TypeFully RemoteGeneral Purpose: Underwrite FHA, VA, Conventional, & USDA loans in accordance with Secondary Market Standards, and provide guidance to operations team members and mortgage department staff regarding structuring and documenting mortgage transactions.Essential Duties/ResponsibilitiesValidate data submitted to Desktop Underwriter/Originator (DU/DO) or (LP) by the loan officer/processor to reach a decision. Validation tasks include verifying the applicants income was calculated correctly and the assets used for funds to close and reserves are accurate. Perform manual underwriting reviews of loans that receive a refer decision from DU or LP to make a fair and supported risk-based decisionProvide counter-offers for loans that cannot be approved as submitted to underwriting, as appropriate.Resubmit loans to DU/DO or LP when data used for the credit decision is out of investor tolerance requirements.Verify mortgage amounts have been calculated correctly and all documents are complete and accurate.Perform a comprehensive review of the loan file to ensure required documentation for credit, property, compliance, and regulatory disclosures are complete and accurate, meeting secondary market underwriting guidelines and any investor overlays.Review appraisal reports and property related documentation as part of the comprehensive risk assessment.Update loan statuses and conditions in FICS.Input required appraisal data into all appropriate data sources, including the FHA Connection.Other Duties/ResponsibilitiesMentor and coach staff to assist with any training needs.Assist production personnel and operations manager to identify and structure eligible transactions for approval.Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Mortgage Operations Manager.Job KnowledgeWorking knowledge of the credit union's products and services.Working knowledge of organization's policies/procedures and credit union's service philosophy. Working knowledge of safety and security program for false alarms, robberies, bomb threats and extortion.Working knowledge of credit union's in-house computer system.Extensive knowledge of state and federal consumer lending regulations.Job Qualifications (Skills) Black Hills FCU is committed to working with its employees to reasonably accommodate them with the physical aspects of the position. Five years experience in mortgage lending. Two years experience with FHA processing. FHA DE designation and familiarity with manufactured housing is preferred.
