Description

This position is located at the Energy & Environmental Research Center (EERC), an international leader in energy and environmental research, conducting projects for clients throughout the United States and the world. We are looking for confident, scientifically trained, and market-oriented individuals to contribute to the success of the organization by performing one or more of the following functions:

  • Designing, modeling, and hands-on fabricating of experimental equipment and overseeing or operating that equipment Helping to prepare research proposals, interpreting data, writing reports and papers, presenting project results to clients, and presenting papers at national and international conferences Conducting technical work in support of energy and environment-related projects Assisting in concept development and proposal preparation for new projects Managing and executing tasks on multidisciplinary projects Working collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and communicating activities in written and oral forms Evaluating coal conversion, renewable energy and other chemical processes Suggesting, assisting with, and preparing proposals to potential clients, managing client tasks and projects Reporting results to clients in written and oral form

Required Competencies

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to prepare experimental plans and technical reports Track record of excellent teamwork and customer service Proven interest in advanced energy technology and carbon capture Knowledge and willingness to learn about new technologies Occasional travel is required

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Cover letter and resume 3 months of experience with energy and environmental systems, manufacturing, or an engineering/consulting firm Experience with one or more of the following: Aspen process modeling, pilot-scale equipment operation, lab-scale equipment operation, and/or process control automation Current OSHA 10 certification
  • Successful completion of criminal history records check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in engineering Academic or work-related experience in one or more of the following: Aspen modeling software for design of power generation and CO2 capture processes Coal or biomass gasification/combustion technology development Pre- and post-combustion carbon capture

Experience designing or interpreting field or lab experiments for advanced chemical processes Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification

$55,000 Annual/Full-Time, Benefited, Exempt

Work Schedule

Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., with occasional evening and overnight shift work. Travel may be required.
