Job Details

Description The Video Production Specialist/Technical Support Assistant, will:

  • To provide video production support and assistance to the Senior Producer/Director.
  • To provide creative support and production expertise for video projects and broadcasts.
  • To provide assistance in crewing projects at ASN with the Senior Producer/Director.
  • To provide field and studio production skills to include videography, video editing, assist in or originate script development, studio and classroom studio technical operation. Basic graphic development. Assist in student training and supervision.
  • To assist in the video archiving process.
  • To assist the Chief Engineer in streaming and media distribution.
  • To track time and account for effort put forth on ASN and external project work.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist the Senior Producer/Director on video production projects undertaken by ASN.
    • Assist P/D on crewing and organizing studio and field shoots.
    • Act in various field and studio crew positions including camera operator, audio operator, teleprompter, and lighting assistance.
    • Work with the P/D in all other aspects of field and studio production.
    • Work with P/D on the video edit workflow. Culling and naming video.
    • Provide individual video editing services where assigned Assist P/D in script development and writing where appropriate. Standard is professional quality television style scripts.
    • Other duties as assigned.
  • Originate and produce individual video projects as are appropriate
    • Work individually or with support from student workers and/or P/D in the workflow as noted under responsibility No.1
    • Act as the lead producer on designated individual projects with vetting and approval from the Senior P/D.
    • Script Development and Writing where appropriate.
    • Standard is professional quality television style scripts.
  • Video Archive Duties
    • Designate time to the upkeep of the ASN video archive.
    • Work with student workers in this effort.
    • Assist Chief Engineer in classroom recording archives.
    • Other archiving duties as assigned.
  • Distance Learning assistance to the Chief Engineer and Help Desk Group.
    • Assistant to Chief Engineer on technical operation of distance learning assets.
    • Basic knowledge of distance learning assets. (Zoom, Blackboard, Yuja, Etc.)
    • Gain knowledge of classroom automation and operation.
    • Inventory and surplus duties as assigned by the Chief Engineer.
    • Other technical duties as assigned.
  • Time tracking and work area neatness.
    • Track time and project work on Team Dynamics
    • Maintain orderly work areas.

Required Competencies

  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Radio-TV Broadcasting, Journalism, Communications, Multi-Media Creative Services, or Video Production.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in television/video production or closely related fields.
  • Portfolio of recent work to be submitted before interview.
  • Successful completion of criminal history records check.

  • Demonstrated competence with various media technologies, such as:
    • Video streaming
    • Teleconferencing
    • Social Media outlets
    • Video/audio/image format conversion
    • Classroom or conference room audio/video projection
    • Satellite uplink/downlink
    • Knowledge of distance learning platforms

Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification

$45.000/Exempt

Work Schedule/Start Date M-F: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm – Variable Work Schedule as Needed.
