Lead and develop a team of Aerodynamic Engineers within the System Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) department. The Aero Team supports all Northrop Grumman Armament System programs in the product areas of medium and large caliber ammunition, precision and guided projectiles, air defense systems, and miniature strike munitions. Job responsibilities include:
Drive Aero Team technical excellence in aero prediction and model development, wind tunnel test design and testing, and airframe modeling, simulation and analysis. Technical contribution provided as both Aero Team technical oversight and via direct, hands-on project work and (estimated 60-75% direct work content).
Collaborate and coordinate with Aero Team stakeholders including peer Engineering managers, technical directors/project engineers, program managers, M&S/GN&C Teams and integrated product teams. Balance group workload and staffing requirements to meet current and future program needs.
Be responsible for and employ the tools and process needed to generate aerodynamic coefficients, models and flight dynamics characteristics including computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and other aero-prediction tools.
Coach direct reports in the areas of career development, performance and teamwork. Provide training and development opportunities. Provide continual feedback, and hold mid-year and end-of-year performance communications.
Support continuous improvement, including Digital Transformation and Model-based Engineering initiatives.
Serve as the external AS Aerodynamics interface with national universities, government labs, NG High Performance Computing Center and Aero managers at other Northrop Grumman sites.
Manage department overhead budget.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors of Science in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
At least 14 years of Engineering experience
Proficiency with CFD and aerodynamic prediction and trajectory performance tools (ex: STAR-CCM, PRODAS, Missile Datcom, Matlab/Simulink)
Depth in projectile, rocket, missile and/or munition aerodynamics, flight dynamics and airframe design/analysis
Wind tunnel test method/analysis experience
Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
MSAE or MSME
Department team leadership, supervisory, or people management experience.
IPT leadership experience.
