We're looking for a driven and innovative Automation Engineer to assist the engineering team with the design and implementation of Plant Level control systems.

Under the direction of the automation team lead you will design, program, troubleshoot, and commission equipment using modular and reusable principles. As an Automation Engineer II you are expected to perform the duties below with moderate supervision.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Assist with detailed design of industrial control systems including control panel design, networking design, and field device specification.
  • Review P&ID, Process Flows, Specifications, and other system design documentation to use as the basis of control system design and
  • Assist with control panel designs compliant with UL508A and
  • Create I/O lists, specifications, test procedures, manuals, and other project documentation as needed.
  • Assist with creating and documenting control system PLC/HMI/SCADA programs using modular and reusable programming techniques. Configure and program control system devices such as managed Ethernet switches, protocol converters, VFDs, and other controllers.
  • Assist with control system hardware and software shop
  • Assist with on-site control system start-up and
  • Assist technicians with field modifications as
  • Familiar with effectively designing, writing, integrating, and maintaining PLC and SCADA
  • Participate in client meetings to define scope and functional and operational requirements of the PLC/HMI/SCADA system.
  • Provide technical assistance to field technicians on PLC/HMI/SCADA
  • Troubleshoot, test and analyze program errors and revise programs to operational
  • Work independently and as part of a team on multiple projects
  • Proven ability to develop professionally through direct mentorship and personally sourced
  • Analyze current systems and design/implement solutions to resolve moderate technical integration
  • Ability to stay aware of industry best practices and emerging technological
  • Effectively communicate with clients, vendors, and internal
  • Excellent critical thinking skills supporting sound technical solutions to complex
  • Design intuitive, easy-to-navigate, aesthetically pleasing user
  • Familiarity with High Performance HMI programming
  • Familiarity with industrial networking, primarily Ethernet/IP.
  • Strong verbal, written and presentation
  • Willing to work extended hours as necessary to achieve project
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

Education/Experience/Requirements
  • Knowledge of industrial control systems, motor control, and field
  • Create PLC programs using RSLogix
    • Experience with RSLogix 500, Step 7 and TIA Portal, and Unity Pro also
  • Create HMI/SCADA screens, preferably using Ignition, FactoryTalk View, iFix, or
  • Design industrial control panels to UL508A requirements and collaborate with CAD department to produce drawings.
  • Working knowledge of Ethernet/IP industrial communication
    • Experience with Modbus TCP, Modbus Serial, Profibus, Profinet, ControlNet, and DeviceNet also beneficial.
  • Knowledge of Scripting languages and
  • Time management skills and ability to meet
  • Proven communication, organizational, interpersonal and problem-solving
  • Possess a valid driver's
  • S. Citizen or have legal right to work in the USA without sponsorship.
  • Pass a criminal background check and drug
  • Work occasional start-ups which may include extended working
  • Travel up to 20% of the time. Most start-ups are local or regional travel and are typically 2 weeks or less in duration.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science, or equivalent education/experience.
  • Level IV you will need 8+ years programming experience with PLC/HMI/SCADA applications, and 8+ years of experience designing industrial control panels and associated networking.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license that represents a history of safe & competent
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background
