Job Summary
The Benefits Specialist implements Human Resource practices and objectives that create an employee-oriented, high performance culture. This specific position is responsible for and involved in the implementation and communication of Altru's benefit and retirement programs for employees of Altru Health System and ensures these programs are in compliance with government laws and regulations, and organizational policies.
This position will work with Altru's health, dental, vision, life insurance, FSA and HSA plans.

The Benefits Specialist implements Human Resource practices and objectives that create an employee-oriented, high performance culture. This specific position is responsible for and involved in the implementation and communication of Altru's benefit and retirement programs for employees of Altru Health System and ensures these programs are in compliance with government laws and regulations, and organizational policies.
This position will work with Altru's health, dental, vision, life insurance, FSA and HSA plans.
Essential Job Functions
- Implements and coordinates the employee and physician benefit and retirement programs, including participating in enrollment, plan design, and vendor relations as well as develops and executes the communication strategy.
- Ensures that benefit and retirement programs are in compliance with government regulations by staying current on compliance measures and law changes, including government filings, Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs), and summary annual reports.
- Processes and validates benefit information into all data systems in Human Resources and external vendors. Completes audits to ensure systems are working appropriately.
- Coordinates and participates in the annual employee open enrollment program and develops and executes the communication strategy.
- Develops and maintains strong business partnerships with the Altru Health System Leadership team. Fosters collaborative relationships with this team.
- Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
- Demonstrates understanding and follows infection control policies and procedures according to standard operating procedure.
- Maintains requirements for age specific competencies for the position and demonstrates the knowledge or principles of growth and developments and the skills necessary to provide patient/customer care/services.
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of and compliance with:
- All pertinent safety, health and environmental policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Working safely, without causing harm or risk to self, others or property.
- The work environment safety procedures and prompt reporting of unsafe practices, procedures, accidents, injuries or other safety violations to the Leader.
- The use of all safety equipment and personal protective equipment.
