If youve led teams in systems thinking, possess experience in the creative application of technology systems in buildings of many types, and want to grow and lead this emerging business segment by expanding our client base, wed like to hear from you. Your experience working closely with clients, strategic vendors and other engineering teams to identify high-value opportunities and deliver strategic solutions will be key to your success. As principal and group leader, you will connect with clients across the country in current and new markets to implement a range of building technology design solutions, with a focus on building controls, and audio/video, security, telecom, smart building/IoT, and fire alarm systems. In a nutshell, the work of your group will differentiate and expand HGAs commitment to and capability for advanced technology solutions and intelligent buildings design.While this position is virtual at the moment, you must be able to work in either our Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Madison, Boston, or Alexandria, VA office. SUMMARY:For this newly created leadership role, you will use your technical acumen and managerial experience to connect with clients in current and new markets to implement excellence in innovative technology design activities. This position requires a strategic leadership approach, exceptional management skills, and strong cross-team and cross-functional collaboration skills. Your big-picture insights and creative thinking will lead to new opportunities and spark innovative growth. Your addition to our team will help push HGAs technology discipline in new directions and expand HGAs ability to positively affect our clients business and the user experiences in the buildings we design.

Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Effectively communicates HGAs Strategic Point of View to both clients and team members.Leads the high-performance visioning and planning process and provides technology application expertise to clients and partners broadly.Provides expertise to internal project teams and consistently advocates for high performance excellence on all projects to all engineers, project managers, market leaders and principals.Provides focused thought leadership and acts as an external and internal resource on all facets of developing, designing, deploying, and operating innovative building technology environments.Provides team members with an environment of coaching, mentoring, feedback, and staff development.Demonstrates strong leadership and team-building skills by creating an atmosphere of cooperation and cohesiveness between HGA teams, the client, and other consultants, to foster an environment of success.Leads the development of new business by identifying strategic targets, prepositioning, writing proposals and designing the interview strategy. Develops and maintains positive, productive partnerships with clients, external and internal project team members and long-term partnerships with a variety of end-users.Develops fees and proposals for building technology design servicesand works to achieve the firms stated annual net service revenue and profitability goals.Negotiates contracts, leads the preparation and approval of budgets and schedules for projects and monitors project performance through appropriate metrics on at least a monthly basis.Collaborates with Project Managers in the preparation and updating of revenue projections and staffing needs for their projects.Monitors contracts, subcontracts, change orders, requests for additional services and other agreements so that each project is well run, and risk is mitigated for both the clients and HGA.Manages timely invoicing and collections.Resolves any conflicts that arise with the clients and/or project teams in a proactive and professional manner.Exemplifies HGAs values through their behavior, including in their interactions with clients, consultants and staff.Represents HGA in the marketplace and design community through participation on boards, committees, authorship and speaking opportunities.

Qualifications:
Qualifications you will need:Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical, electrical or architectural engineering (or another engineering discipline) from an accredited program. Also acceptable is a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science or IT from an accredited program.A minimum of 15 years of experience in the design of Low Voltage for healthcare, public, corporate, higher education and industrial project types.5+ years of experience with demonstrated success in selling building technology services to a wide variety of client types.5+ years of experience leading & managing high performing engineering teamsExcellent computer skills in Windows operating system and Microsoft Office Suites products.Professional Engineering license (PE) in one or more states is a plus, but not required; RCDD, PSP, and or CTS strongly preferred, CEM preferred but not required.Possess an existing network of connections to clients, brokers and consultants in the Technology Engineering arena.Active involvement with ASHRAE, Realcomm, CABA and other organizations a plus.Skills, abilities and knowledge needed for this role:Proven implementation of creative technology solutions that advance the business objectives of our clients.Demonstrated commitment to the principals of high performance building design and experience integrating them on specific projects.Knowledge of building IT infrastructure, digital facilities management, digital experience based technologies and the basic understanding of other low voltage technologies that are integral to our design processes.Demonstrated strong background in systems engineering and proven track record in leading and delivering engineering solutions across a matrixed organization through both direct leadership and consensus building.Excellent communication, oral and written, skills, organizational acumen, the ability to interact with senior management, technical subject matter experts, and business customers.Comfortable with ambiguity, operating with a high degree of initiative, and possessing a strong sense of determination to complete identified goals.Ability to work well in a team environment, including carrying out appropriate follow-through with others, mentoring, delegating work, and giving and receiving constructive feedback This position requires travel up to 20% of the timeto client/prospective client sites and other locations (conferences, etc.).
