Description

The UAS Associate position fulfills the need for the increased demand for instructors for Avit 126, 238, 337, 419 and 438; assist UAS flight operations in the areas: Student instruction, evaluation, lesson plan development and records management, provide general support functions related to: Flight operations, systems maintenance, testing and evaluation.  In addition, this position provides UAS program robustness through cross training and generalized support for academic instructors.   Will perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Chair of the UAS Program or designee.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • UAS Flight Instructor
    • Conduct Ground, Flight and FTD instruction.
    • Follow prescribed curriculum.
    • Maintain student records.
    • Monitor and evaluate student checks.
    • Maintain superior training standards.
    • Maintain currency in UAS aircraft systems.
    • Assist in safely conducting UAS flight operations adhering to SMS principles, processes, and procedures.
  • Course Content Development Certify flight records.
    • Assist with development of undergraduate lesson content and course development.
    • Develop and Incorporate instructional aids.
    • Assist in fleet inspections, maintenance and record keeping.
    • Assist in fleet management and inventory.
  • UAS Operations Liaison
    • Between flight operations management and instructor/students.
    • Coordinate ground academics and flight training within JDOSAS.
    • Promoting a positive safety culture throughout UAS Program
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Assistant Chair of the UAS Program or designee
    • Generally consists of, but not limited to the following:
      • Develop, monitor, and maintain policies and procedures
      • Maintain adequate amount of content of contact time.
      • Recommend Improvements for training and safety.
      • Assist in research and promotion of UAS program

Required Competencies

  • Motivated self-starter with ability to perform without direct supervision. Excellent communication skills and the ability to make sound decisions concerning training problems Good team building skills.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aviation
  • Working knowledge of both UAS Aircraft and UAS simulators
  • Working knowledge of UND UAS program.
  • Part 107 Remote Pilot Operator
  • FAA Certified Flight Instructor
  • Successful completion of criminal history records check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in UAS Operations
  • ScanEagle UAS experience
  • Predator UAS experience
  • Computer networking experience

Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification

$35,568/Full-Time/Exempt

Work Schedule/Start Date Variable work schedule as needed.
