Position Description & Details:
The Department of Plant Pathology at North Dakota State University welcomes applications for a Post Doctoral Research Associate position in the canola pathology program. The successful applicant will: 1) evaluate the potential of S. sclerotiorum virulence genes as targets for controlling Sclerotinia stem rot of canola using spray-induced gene silencing technique, 2) evaluate nanocarriers optimized for efficient delivery of dsRNA to facilitate SIGS under field conditions, 3) identify genes/QTL for resistance to Sclerotinia stem rot in B. napus mapping populations, and 4) analyze, write and report research results in scholarly journals.

Advertised Salary:
$42,000+ depending on experience

Minimum Qualifications:
PhD in Plant Pathology or closely related field. Demonstrated ability to analyze and publish results of research. Good oral, interpersonal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with molecular genetic procedures, acquisition and annotation of genome, identification of plant resistance genes, and association mapping. Experience with bioinformatics analysis and molecular techniques such as DNA and RNA extraction, gene cloning and sequence analysis, primer and probe design, and gene functional analysis. Experience working with canola diseases. Experience with field research
