The Chemical Data and Analytics Engineer is responsible for setting the strategy and vision for the delivery of information, analytics, and solutions for business’s chemical compliance program.   Contributes to regulatory submission strategy, identifying submission risks and opportunities, while leading simple through more complex regulatory applications and managing procedures through approval.  Develops and maintains processes for gathering supplier data to identify chemical compliance restrictions or prohibitions.

Job location: Bismarck ND, West Fargo ND, or Minneapolis MN

Role & Responsibility

  • Develop a long-range plan for gathering and maintaining information related to chemical content in components used in the company’s products 
  • Assists company in understanding and carrying out chemical compliance activities such as product labeling, reporting, registration, etc. 
  • Continuous collaboration with Engineering and Supply Management.  
  • Manage process to monitor and report any instances of security breaches 
  • Plan, drive, design, develop, document, measure, analyze and improve the data collection process and solution globally and regionally 
  • Manage overall efficiency and global harmonization of the chemical compliance database 
  • Creates and manages product chemical compliance documentation. 
  • Develops and executes appropriate record retention policy for compliance documentation according to company policies. 
  • Generates responses to support inquiries from governmental authorities and customers 
  • Supports the in-house legal staff in defense of any potential non-compliance claims related to chemical content or emissions from company’s products. 
  • Recommend new innovative solutions for supplier data collection and business intelligence (BI) & analytics  
  • Maintain relationship with global affiliates & business units (BUs) for systems which are global in scope 
  • Facilitate governance processes and solution standards of the chemical compliance database 
  • Establish collaborative relationship with key business stakeholders 
  • Overall accountable to manage the authorization rules for application access.  
  • Define Program and Project plans necessary to reach roadmap goals, including 
  • Process and Integration scope 
  • Resource & competence requirements 
  • Project Budget approvals 
  • Serve on project implementation teams implementing alternative chemical substances 
  • Lead contractors performing maintenance support for the chemical compliance database 
  • Lead process training sessions with the Solution Experts and Maintenance Support


Job Requirement

  • Bachelor’s degree in General Engineering, including Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Environmental with appropriate experience with information management systems 
  • 2-7 years of related experience 
  • Travel Standard
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations, laws, and directives regarding chemical substances found in the business products  
  • Project Management implementing technological solutions 
  • Experience with Internal Database Solutions, i.e. Microsoft Sharepoint and Teams 
  • Proven experience identifying and managing technical risks 
  • Experience with BI & Analytics 
  • Understanding of design, manufacturing, and procurement processes 
  • Ability to analyze and design data collection and analytical processes  
  • Experience developing product requirements based on input gathered from a variety of sources including analysis results and feedback from stakeholders  
  • Ability to develop test conditions and expected results based on the application requirements  
  • Ability to review project deliverables for completeness and quality, and compliance with established project standards 
  • Analytical mindset and problem solver 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English 
  • Highly computer literate 
  • Willing to work with distributed and multi-cultural teams 

Desired: 
  • Knowledge and working experience with Information Material Data Systems (IMDS), Compliance Data Exchange (CDX), or Assent Compliance or equivalent a plus 
  • SAP or Oracle ERP experience

•Education Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
