The mission of the College of Nursing and Professional Disciplines (CNPD) is to prepare future leaders, to advance human well-being and improve quality of life for diverse populations, with an emphasis on rural communities in North Dakota, the region and beyond, through the provision of high-quality innovative inter-professional education, research and service.

The mission of the Social Work Department is to advance knowledge and learning and to prepare competent, responsive and ethical social workers who empower vulnerable populations, promote social justice and are committed to serving diverse populations.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Act as assistant to department chair to ensure smooth functioning of departmental programs
    • Oversee administrative operations of social work
    • Assist chair with resolution of problems or conflicts
    • Supports academic functions, which may include (but not limited to) scheduling courses and classrooms, ordering textbooks and onboarding of faculty and field staff
    • Draft various departmental reports
    • Assist administrative team with development and distribution of policies and procedures
    • Process applications and prepare annual scholarship payments and grant stipends
    • Provide training to staff and faculty to ensure administrative policy compliance
    • Hire, train and supervise department secretary and student workers
    • Process payments for social work through the Jaggaer program
    • Other duties as assigned
  • Administrative liaison to college staff
    • Research and help draft operational budgets, including helping to project expenses and manage departmental resources effectively
    • Assist with hiring process, as needed
    • Assist with payroll forms, as needed
    • Assist with completion of annual evaluation process
    • Analyze operating proccedures and processes to ensure smooth coordination of administrative functions between department and college
    • Attend trainings and act as liaison to relay information to others in the department and/or college
    • Other duties as assigned
  • Provide internal and external communication support
    • Ensure timely and effective communication to support all department functions
    • Develop and execute communication to all stakeholders, including but not limited to, updating departmental website and creating and distributing electronic newsletter
    • Plan and oversee all departmental events, such as Homecoming field instructor events, distance student campus visits, alumni events and grant-related conferences
    • Assist the CNPD Dean's Office Manager on any Social Work communication, social media or networking
    • Review and answer correspondence in a timely manner

Minimum Requirements

  • Associate's degree in business-related field
  • 3 years experience in an office setting
  • Experience supervising employees
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office software
  • Successful completion of criminal history records check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Event planning experience
  • Experience with Blackboard, Campus Connection, HRMS

Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification

$40,000/year

Work Schedule/Start Date

Work schedule is Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm. May also include occasional evenings and/or weekends in conjunction with planned events.
