Senior Category Manager, IT Sourcing

You will be a key member of Medtronic's center-led Indirect Supply Management (ISM) team responsible for managing and influencing ~$700M in annual IT category spend, with a focus on ~250M in annual spend in the IT Infrastructure, Cloud, and Collaboration categories. This is a global role; you will partner with stakeholders across Core IT functions, Regions, and Businesses to drive value. The position will report to the Indirect Supply Management (ISM) leader for this category. Strong business acumen is a must as you will be called upon to choose the right supplier, the right type of engagement model, and put in place contracts that will protect Medtronic's interests.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

You will:

* Create value across the entire ~$700M portfolio of IT spend, with a focus on ~250M in annual spend in the IT Infrastructure, Cloud, and Collaboration categories
* Work independently and build strategic relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers
* Engage and influence multiple stakeholders to adopt and implement strategies developed by the category team; Medtronic is a highly matrixed organization and having the ability to influence and leverage the matrix is a key requirement
* Achieve (year-on-year) value improvements for all aspects of quality, service, innovation, and cost
* Develop and implement sourcing strategies that result in a sustainable competitive advantage
* Perform RF(x) events to drive competitive pressure and ensure maximum value is realized
* Lead contract negotiations
* Interact and partner with IT, Legal, and other key stakeholder groups
* Provide stakeholders with a balanced view of contract risk and liabilities
* Assist in Supplier Stratification activities and develop capability roadmaps
* Gather Market Intelligence and trends for relevant categories and associated sub-categories
* Create and establish internal and external benchmark analysis, including gap analysis, and required actions to achieve functional advantage
* Identify insourcing and outsourcing opportunities
* Recommend solutions to business problems and/or identify opportunities for improvement, and present ideas to leadership
* Drive process and system improvements to enhance purchasing efficiency, cost, and compliance
* Follow governance processes and Purchasing Controls systems to ensure compliance
* Educate and train stakeholders on key indirect supply management initiatives and policies e.g., Professional Services policy, Procure-to-Pay technology rollout
* Establish and support a work environment of continuous improvement.

The above tasks and responsibilities are deemed as essential to this position; however, business conditions may change so flexibility is required.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

* Bachelors degree required
* Requires a University Degree and minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in Sourcing, IT (Corporate IT/ IT Products / IT Services), or Supply Chain, or advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in Sourcing, IT (Corporate IT/ IT Products / IT Services), or Supply Chain

Nice to Have

* Master's degree (e.g., MBA)
* Understanding of Cloud Platform economics and value levers
* Experience working in a large multi-divisional corporation
* Global Category Management experience (Strategy Development and Execution in accordance to Strategic Sourcing methodology)
* Knowledge of working in FDA regulated industries
* Bachelor's degree in engineering, economics, information systems, law, business, supply chain, life sciences, or equivalent
* Ability to partner with and influence internal technical experts
* Demonstrated leadership, customer service, problem solving, communication, negotiation, tact, judgment, and organizational skills
* Influencing and leading IT teams and external suppliers to deliver results
* Excellent written and verbal communication with strong program management skills
* Strong business and legal acumen
* Positive and energetic team player with strong cross-functional team experience
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
* High attention to detail
* Strong analytical skills
* Proficient in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
