Top Job Located in Madison, WI Salary: $30 - $35/hr.We have an immediate opening for a temporary Staff Accountant/Bookkeeper for a non-profit in the Madison area. The position is temporary, while they search for a full-time team member to fill an opening due to retirement, and is expected to start in early September and last 6 - 8 weeks. There is also potential for full-time placement with the company for the right candidate.RESPONSIBILITIES: The following statements reflect the general details necessary to describe the major functions of this position and are not intended to be a detailed description of all the work/functions that may be required. Other duties may be assigned. Individual will work a varied schedule based on client needs. Ensure accurate financials. This is done through: - Collect, prepare and audit monthly, quarterly and annual accounting activities into software. - Reconcile bank and credit card accounts on a monthly basis. - Review and generate financial reports/support as necessary. Includes handling accounts receivable/payable, employee reimbursements, as needed with a 24-hour turnaround. Analyze and report on financial status including income statement variances, communicating financial results to management on a monthly basis. This includes annual budget preparation, forecasting, and analysis. Responsible for compliant and accurate processing of payroll and tax filings on a bi-weekly basis. Responsible for timely and accurate quarterly and annual payroll and tax reporting per federal, state and local regulations. Collaborate with CPA firm to complete annual audit with fidelity. Responsible for fund development tracking, reporting and planning in collaboration with development team. Improve systems/procedures, identify cost containment opportunities, appropriate pricing for products and initiate corrective actions as necessary. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited university in finance, accounting or equivalent, 5-7 experience running the office operations of a small business. 3-5 years of relevant finance/business operations experience preferred. Proven proficiency with Microsoft Suite of products. Salesforce experience preferred. CPA designation preferred. Nonprofit experience preferred.
