Position Description

This position has a technical products knowledge component and a direct customer relationship component. The position will assist and implement field installations, system and conveyor upgrades, warranty claims and fieldwork, and preventative maintenance contracts/visits. Some projects will require working with a third-party crew.

The service technician is also responsible for the accuracy, costs, timing, and customer relationship of any site work. The position also supports the inside sales teams providing technical expertise, parts and install quotes, warranty assistance, replacement part identification, and customer application assistance. The service technician role is critical to building and maintaining lasting relationships with existing accounts and assisting field sales in account support in any way they are asked to participate

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • To accomplish this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation, each essential function satisfactorily.
  • Implement and assist with field service activities, warranty activities, and installation projects.
  • Warranty determinations and actions, and technical support for sales, channel partners, field sales, and customers. Participate in channel and service center training programs.
  • Determining replacement parts requirements for customers and providing quotes

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Problem Solving and Decision Making - Defining issues, examining alternatives and effects.
  • Product Knowledge - Demonstrating proficiency in Dorner product lines and their applications. Flexibility - Adjusting priorities and pace to reflect changing needs or job demands.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Education: Associate's Degree- Industrial Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Experience: Extremely high level of mechanical expertise plus a working knowledge of electrical wiring and motors. In-depth product knowledge from working in engineering or manufacturing 3+ yrs Field Service work. Ability to read machine prints and plant layout drawings Customer service skills Computer skills
  • Certifications & Licenses: Forklift certification Other Requirements: Selling, teaching, and presentation skills
  • Travel Required- 70%
