Play a critical role in keeping patients, visitors and staff safe at the #1 hospital in Wisconsin.

We are seeking a Security Officer to:

  • Patrol hospital grounds assisting visitors with directions and acting as the first responder to emergencies and disturbances.
  • Interact with law enforcement, patients, visitors and staff regarding any security or safety issues.
  • Properly document daily activities and incident reports, using computer software programs.
  • Monitor and operate access control systems, security camera systems, intercoms, two-way radios, telephones, and alarm systems.


Education :

Minimum - High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred - Associate Degree or progress towards a degree in criminal justice field or a Bachelor's Degree in any other field of study.

Work Experience :

Minimum - One (1) year relevant experience or appropriate preferred education requirements.

Preferred - Experience in healthcare security, corporate security, or law enforcement.

Licenses and Certifications :

Minimum - Valid Driver's License and completion of IAHSS Basic Certification within 6 months of hire.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities :

  • Ability to be insured by Hospital's risk management insurer which requires (1) a valid Wisconsin Driver's License and (2) successfully passing a driving background check.
  • Proficient in typing and data entry
  • Knowledge of and skill with computer systems, including spreadsheets, word processing, e-mail, computer-aided dispatch, alarm systems, access control databases, and surveillance cameras.
  • Knowledge of radio equipment for communications.
  • Skill in oral communications, especially listening and recalling information during high stress conditions.
  • Knowledge of verbal and non-verbal tactics to safely de-escalate emotional individuals.
  • A willingness to learn and utilize verbal and non-verbal tactics and non-violent crisis intervention techniques to safely de-escalate emotional individuals. A willingness to learn and utilize trained defense tactics and restraint tactics.


Physical Requirements :

Medium: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

W ork Schedule :

This is a full-time, 1.0 FTE position, scheduled 11:00 pm to 7:00 am with rotating days, weekends, and holidays off. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department.
